Not today but my two most recent, a Christmas gift and what may be usurping the Diffraction as my GOAT YoYo after about a year where the only things that came close were @MarkD ‘s other Yoyos.

Galaxy Diver 6061 (the gift) on the left , HypoThesis (new Goat!) on the right

Extremely happy to say I’ve only purchased two Yoyos since the Exia drop. Looking forward to a year where my YoYo buying is curbed and every YoYo I buy is that much more significant because of that.

Simplify your material YoYo life and your attachment to the act and your favorite tools will become like an extension of your body- YoYo Guru Durfee

How does the Hypothesis play? I haven’t heard much about it, although I’ve been curious. I’m also a huge fan of Mark’s designs!

My thoughts behind getting it were essentially just that it’s 55.85x46, 64.1g which is very close, as is the shape, to the Diffraction. I’ve had Yoyos i thought I could end up(mostly Mark’s other Yoyos lol, the Night Sky too) liking more but after the honeymoon phase it was back to the Diffraction.

And where the Exia (to me) feels like a modified Diffraction with inner ss rings, the HypoThesis is like a straight Diffraction was given outer ss rings. Except, not quite cuz these are some really cool ss rings that are right on the rim instead of making up a large part of them, and then they also wrap back under too. The weight distribution on this thing is phenomenal IMO.

Especially for 75$ this yoyo is fantastic but I’d be happy if I had payed 100 or even a bit more. I’m a little picky with bimetals because of how ss placement and size can really shift weight distribution in a way that’s not optimal for me. These ss rings they’ve made are great, super stable without feeling overly dense or heavy in play.

I’ll update when I’m past a week or two with it.

Been looking for these guys for a while, first run 28 Stories and Royal Bison

How does the royal bison play? I remember that Chris had a lot of issues with manufacturing on these and there were vibe issues.

It isn’t too bad on the string but there’s a lot of fingernail vibe… like noticeably more than the painted Peaks. The history is a bit foggy on the Royal Bison as the history thread says it’s a second run but I was always under the impression it came from the same batch as the first run 28S Peak (1st shop/2nd batch). It also has the flat nipple, no machining line in the cup, and rims that make me think it came from the first shop.

Does “28 Stories” refer to the splash design? If so, what is the connection there?

Yup! Chris’s original inspiration for the colorway they still make to this day (albeit very different in appearance from the original) comes from this book:

How do the splash colors relate to this book?

They originally donated part of the profits I believe

Better quality picture:

So you can see the colors now that make sense in the colorway.
