Love that yoyo. Only slight complaint would be I wish the gap was a bit wider. Feels the ever so slightest like the binds are too tight. Maybe I should put some different pads in

Changed pads and I think that was the issue mainly. Love the Gravitas. Monolith was also a very good yoyo from them. Shame they closed shop. Loved their aesthetic!

No worries. If the drive links (shark tooth shaped parts closest to the bar) are too slack it will wear the sprocket and something could also get trapped between the bar and chain causing it to derail.
