Dude, you weren’t kidding! I’ve been chasing down this specific color since I first started spinning. It’s perfect!
Plural of moose?
Moosen! Meesen?
I saw a flock of Moosen! Many much moosen out in the woodsen!
Hahaha anyone seen the Brian Regab sketch? Classic
It’s too bad the plural of moose isn’t meese. Meese sounds cooler
I’m legitimately surprised that a high school sophomore has the capacity to design and make a yoyo for resale
Wait Marm, did you make these yourself?
I assumed you had done the CAD and sent that off to shop to machine. If that’s not the case, I’m just gonna go ahead and proclaim you the Messiah and become your disciple.
I too was impressed with your initiative as a young guy to design and follow through with getting them made. You should be proud man
Idk for sure, but im assuming CAD file sent to machine shop. Still surprising that this is possible. I only had enough money to buy myself a bike and a few bags of pot at that age. Worked at Shoprite for $6.50 an hour.
Super nice! I have a well loved and work Kuntosh and would love to get a qv. The kuntosh is such a performer I imagine the qv is much better.
I do like the board as well. I have quite a few myself. I love the jellyfish on the grip and having made the board yourself it carries so much more character. Is it a laminate deck or solid?
Can’t go wrong with either honestly. The qv feels more powerful, but the og is also pretty powerful… They’re both the bees knees!
It is an amazing feeling being able to have fun with something made with your own hands.
Edge laminated three pieces of red oak. Here’s an album:
And here’s another album with more detail on the drop:
Nice work brother. Very respectable for a complete first attempt.
The steps where you made all the scores and then chiseled off the material reminds me of doing stone work (called kerf and pitch by masons). If you had fun doing it with this wood, you’d definitely enjoy shaping stone in the same way. It’s pretty cool. You make a bunch of scores with a diamond blade of some sort, then chip off the slivers with a big chisel and mini-sledge.
I haven’t done as much wood working as I’d like, but I worked for a stone sculptor for a couple years who also did all sorts of art restoration as well. Got to restore so many different broken/damaged pieces. From ceramics/bronze/wood/stone/etc. sculptures in various stages of disrepair to patching/cleaning/reframing canvases. Learned so much at that shop. Best job ever
That’s a very nice yoyo! I like mine with flat caps
Decided to pick up the MYY Y01 Node which cost just under a tenner (inc postage) on ebay. Took a few weeks to get here and it arrived yesterday, I have heard a lot saying how good it is and despite that I am still surprised by just how good this thing is! So smooth and feels great on the string. I think I will have to swap the pads though as they are rather slippy
Here’s the Onedrop Parlay I got last week. It came with a small ding on it as it was second hand but man is it nice! Surprisingly powerful and oh so smooth and such a joy to play. I am in love!
Yeah, flat caps are pretty much the standard look. But I want to try and match brass side effects with the gold dust finish, and I think brass flats would be a touch too heavy.
Nice colour on the parlay. Do you know the name of it?
Pretty solid mail day today.
Phoenix 888 and 28 Stories Wooly Marmot
(and a Stars Fugu from earlier for those of you who are also into mechanical keyboard artisans)
Fair enough
Do you know how much the brass UL’s weigh? I mean, compared to AL flat caps?
5.2g vs. 3.3g.
