Random cheap ebay pick up ![]()
Veeeeeerry nice.
Iâm kind of a Duncan fanboy.
Although there is a TMBR waiting at homeđ
Good pictures of the Movement dude.
Yes! @MoonageMin that fade looks awesome!
Home now. Letâs a go!
My first fixe that wasnât a 3$plastic.
My birthstone is amethyst and though Iâm not a big âyour born under this signâ (or whatever lol)) kind of person, I am very drawn to the purple heart.
Oh my gosh a Metal Zero. How does it play? Is it utter garbage?
Hah. Itâs strung into its packaging!.
What a unique touch!
Totally dropped it while I snapped this.
FML.
LOL
===TOO LONG DIDNâT READ:===
Itâs actually pretty fun and a lot better than expectedâŚbut it doesnât compare to modern day throws.

I wasnât sure what to expect with itâŚIâve never looked up specs on it or anything.
Always wanted one though as I use to own a couple of the original Duncan Freehands and so all the older organic freehands (like the zero, mg and this metal) give me a lot of nostalgia.
I wasnât expecting much from it. It uses a A sized bearing and friction stickers and is tug responsive.
I also thought it was going to be made out of super cheap aluminum and was going to be really light.
I also only paid $10 for this thing shipped and fully expected it to be all chewed up, scratched and dinged to oblivion. Heck no though! Thereâs one small ding but otherwise itâs in great shape!
âŚ
But heck! Itâs actually a really fun yo-yo!
It doesnât compare to anything made todayâŚbut at the same time itâs far better than I was expecting!
The metal is a lot higher quality then I thought itâd be and thereâs some nice weight to it. It doesnât feel like a cheap toy.
I also have a cleaned bearing in it, so though it is tug responsiveâŚitâs not overly snaggy. I even tried a few of my tricks that can cause even the best of my yos to bind up mid trickâŚand though it took me several attempts, and although it slowed the metal zero WAY downâŚit was able to pull the tricks off! Iâm sure as my skill increase and as I use tug responsive yo-yos more, itâll perform even better.
I think I could make it completely unresponsive with shims and maybe taking one of the friction stickers off (or using a well worn sticker(s) )âŚbut I like having a few tug responsives to play around with. Iâve been so spoiled with modern day unresponsives this past year.
That being saidâŚ(and bare in mind, Iâm still a noob), it doesnât sleep nearly as long as modern yos I own, vibes quite a bit, is slim compared to newer stuff and has a small catch zone. Itâs also not super stable and easily tilts on the string for me. The friction stickers also rub on the string so anything with multiple strings in the gap causes this yo to slow down super quickly.
Still thoughâŚitâs pretty fun and better than Iâd expected!
Sick. The Metal Zero has a weir history of being crappy. Can you take a photo of the bearing seat and response area? and how long is the axle? I was always curious about this yoyo.
That is very cool man! I love how it matches up with your birthstone too!
Do you do much modern unresponsive? Itâs definitely a style Iâd like to get into eventually.
Sure thing, give me a couple of minutes ![]()
my spinworthys arrived yesterday, but i did not get to open them until today. therefore, it is still todayâs mail day!
but, i had to hunt and chase my mail carrier around the neighborhood to grab this part of my mail day⌠iâd been waiting for about two weeks for this to land, and i saw the âsign for packageâ tag on my door when i got home, but i was not giving up. it was worth itâŚ
I generally carry a responsive on me just in case someone wants to try to throw, as it turns to be what most folks expect to use. I do love the flow of responsive yoyos, but not any less/greater than unresponsive.
I just canât help but want to excel at this having seen the work of @EOS44 and @edhaponik. Truly inspiring playaâs!
Play on playa.
The axle is 3/4 of an inch. The bearing rests between 2 spacers.
Hope these photos help, Iâd be happy to help with anything else as best as I can.
Got so excited about my Irving I forgot to look through the rest of the boxđ
@luftverk bearing blank. I got one of these previously to mod a buterflyAL for my Dad as a gift. Played it to test before the gifting, I gotta say - itâs spot on. Makes a throw a fixie, as though it always had been.
I definitely recommend it.
Anybody know if this is titanium?
Package does say âtitanium supply co.â
Dude. What a haul!
Those friction stickers⌠âŚouch!
They look pretty wore out.
