How do you like the dove?
Want to compare your thoughts to mine
Iād say that the Dove is probably the best unresponsive plastic I have. It isnāt in the same league as my hybrids, but as a pure plastic throw, itās perfect for my needs. I also plan to use it to (someday) learn 5A.
Been on a mission to collect Duncan bimetal. Although I already have a cuda I couldnāt resist the killer artwork on these two.
All 3

That is awesome. How does the BarracudaX play?
I really enjoy itās weight and size. Iāve been playing a grasshopper gtx too and itās not as floaty. Definitely has a real solid feeling not not chunky or clumsy. Iām learning string rejections and the shape of it seems to be more forgiving/wanton for this.
Awesome glad to know, thanks dude!
Question : this is in comparison to what other top plastics?
and what makes the dove better than the others (in your view)
Iām getting a chief and supernova and an old engraved Sasquatch in the mail Canāt wait !
Well, Iād compare it to the Replay Pro, the Wedge, and the PLSTC. The Wedge and PLSTC are just too big and chunky for my tastes. The Replay Pro has a gap thatās too wide for my tastes, and it can be quite vibey (so can the Wedge). Iād say the ProtoStar and Severe are two unresponsive plastics that play as well as the Dove, but the Dove has a more comfortable shape, and the Dove doesnāt come with ādeath gripā spacers, which nudges it ahead of the ProtoStar in my book.
Thanks dude, I was trying to decide before between this, the Skyva, PLSTC, replay pro, and the Wedge, so Iām glad that you liked it personally more than those.
I love my Dove, so def no buyers remorse, especially now after reading that
Trueeee
Are you saying the Barracuda X or the Grasshopper GTX is more floaty?
Spoiled myself and got all 5 of these delivered today!
- Amplified Return Tops Adlib (pink/purple)
- UNPRLD ReCognition (clover green)
- Throwback Skilltoys Arcade (purple/silver swap)
- ThrowRevolution Neo (black POM/blue hub)
- Recess Joyride GT (black speckled)
Hey let me know what you think of Neo please.
I have one on the way and I plan to use it as my training aid a little bit everyday to help me get my tricks smoother, and to force me to get used to maintain string tension throughout my tricks etc.
The shape is very comfortable and forgiving and it plays lighter than than the specs would lead you to believe. Be mindful of the thickness of the string you use as fatter will be more responsive and thinner string less. Itās a great trainer as the weight lends itself to better spin times than other lighter responsive plastics. Build quality is fantastic for the price. It feels and plays like a high quality Yoyo. Throwing it makes me happy and it will make you happy too MoknageMin! Glad to see you pick up the hobby again by the way. I also have young kids and work a lot so throwing has been the one hobby I can still do consistently!
Thanks raptor!
Loved the mini review, and also for welcoming me back.
I kind of canāt believe I stopped at the start last time.
I know itās not a magic bullet but I am looking forward to the responsive Neo to help me train to be better.
Currently working on competing in the trick ladder division in two weeks. Hoping to get to Kwyjibo before I strike out (as I can only do tricks up to the Kwyjibo and need to learn some tricks in between also. Gerbil, pop n fresh, Boingy, these I havenāt learnt yet)
I still canāt do boingy I should have been trying it every day since I started. but instead I can only do it once in a while when my hands get lucky. I hope you have better fortunes with it! Itās a great looking trick!!
I need to for the sports ladder in two weeks
So I hope I can learn it with practice
Hopper for sure.floaty.
I love when people spoil themselves!
Nice haul!!
