Finally found a set of Earth Bounders.
Totally fitting since my nickname is Ness. Lol
Triptych came today!
Plays like it’s something in the middle between a Life and a Grail. Really comfy in the hand. I thought The gap would be an issue because Jensen said it was designed with a wider (by less than a millemeter) nsk bearing in mind but I can’t say that I can notice it.
The painted rim really stands out and I’ve not seen anything like it before. Very nice throw!
Is the DK good?
I suppose that depends on what your definition of good is. It is by no means a high performance throw, but it’s a ton of fun to play with and it puts a smile on my face. So I would say it’s really good. Also, it just might have the best hand feel of any throw i own. It feels very special.
@Glenacius_K Translation: No.
“So hows my little Timmy doing in class Ms. Wheeler?”
“Well he’s trying really hard”
“So he’s getting good grades?”
“… he’s trying really hard, and that’s what counts.”
Yes I should have been more specific. I meant how does it feel to play more than anything. I really didn’t expect it to perform at a competition level.
It plays well. It’s very smooth with a somewhat unforgiving catch zone. It’s also not very stable. It forces you to clean up your technique which is one of the reasons I appreciate it. If your on the fence I would say pick one up. If you end up not liking it at least you could count on someone else wanting to buy it off you.
That analogy is honestly not a good one. The doorknob is not ment for competitive play. You wont get extreme stability and spin time with it. Its meant to be unique. Its meant to feel good in the hand, and have a unique feel on the string. That does not make it a bad throw. And I don’t really understand what the analogy means in this context. What i got from it was that the kid trying to get good grades is supposed to be the doorknob trying to be a competitive throw, but that wasn’t what a-rt/sf was going for with the dk at all. Forgive me if i didnt understand it correctly
Performing well and being enjoyable to use are not the same thing. I think the appropriate question to ask about yo-yos like that is “is it fun” as opposed to “is it good.” Because the latter question begs for a performance based evaluation, while the former is much more open.
And you’re right, my analogy was a pretty poor one for trying to get the point across. It really stemmed from the “it depends on what your definition of good is” comment. A kid trying their hardest is certainly good, but that doesn’t necessarily translate to getting a good grade.
I agree that performance does not equal fun for everyone, but it does for me in most cases. And that’s cuz I’m not usually having much fun if I’m not landing tricks, and I land tricks much more consistently with a performance throw than a more evenly balanced throw that tilts all over the place and spins for half the time.
Is that Snapshot a re-branded Spinstar? Or is it a re-branded Loop 720?
Wow! That was quick!! You just barely got these ordered!! lol
I’m like an hour and 15 minutes away from Easthampton so my YYE orders are always quick. I love it.
