Atmos sent an email today:

Ceramic is a special new coating we’re bringing to our slate of finishes. It looks and feels like fine china, or like freshly glazed porcelain. It’s incredible to hold in hand, and even more interesting in play. There’s a unique delicateness to the finish, but retains the hardiness and durability of aluminium.

Ceramic finishes will be available to more Atmos designs coming in 2026, and we’re proud to debut it with the Smol.

I’ll be interested to see how durable it is. They don’t really explain the process, but it seems different than just a variation of a blasted finish.

What is the Ceramic finish like? Based on the pictures, it looks less textured than blast, but not shiny like a polish. . .

It feels very nice to touch, looks like the yoyo was glazied idk but it seems that you can see it from my comparison pics. At the same time, it is not that grippy on the skin during grinds the way glossy yo-yos usually are. I’d say that for grinds, blast is 100% suitable, ceramic is 70%, and glossy is 30%. I hope you get what I mean

Had a very special mailday today. I appreciate that any day on which one receives toys in the post is a great privilege considering some of the misery tha goes on in the world, and I’m lucky again to be in a position that i can collect not inexpensive yoyos, but today’s mailday was special, not just because of the awesome throws that i got my hands on (the throws are pretty special themselves, clearly) but it was also special because it was testament to the awesomeness of this community.

I’ve been collecting RSO for a while now and one that was a bit elusive was the titanium end, i had it listed on my WTB post and @Yoyo_Garden came through with a mint example that he was willing to give up to my cause but was a bit reticent about shipping internationally right at this moment in time (USA to EU) given certain uncertainties going on in the real world: in comes a man like @EZstreet to the rescue.

Before i managed to locate the ti end, i’d messaged my buddy EZStreet to see if he wanted to let me grab his mini ti bowl - I’ve been buying throws from him for a while, he’s given me lots of great advice and recommendations (and deals/steals), he’s a great guy to chat with in general but this time he really went above and beyond: i mentioned that i had a deal for the end but wouldn’t be able to ship straight away and asked if he’d consider receiving the end for me and shipping the two throws for me which he agreed to do without hesitation!

So there, a tripartite B/S/T deal highlighting how awesome this community is. @Yoyo_Garden and @EZstreet have encycopedic knowledge (and collections) and they’re solid dudes just like everyone I’ve befriended/acqainted/interacted with in here. What a great hobby, cheers dudes!

Jigun Marina 9!!! WuCongCong signature throw. What’s interesting about this throw is it comes with polycarbonate rings to increase the weight for competition usage. The additional rings turn the yoyo from being a bi-metal to a tri-material. The extra rings add about 2 grams of additional weight. As far as I know it’s the 2nd or 1st yoyo over 50mm width that is available like this. As bi-metal this is the only design made of 7075 aluminum so far to date not 6061 that can be modified into a tri-material. I think that’s pretty cool and rare. The yoyo is a SS tier design from Jigun. Each colorway was ordered separately took forever getting shipped from China or Japan to the US. None of the shipping tracking apps had the correct shipping times or where abouts so that was the downside I had not knowing when I was going to be receiving these two. I took several pictures to show some other design aspects that make this a premium purchase worth grabbing. If you own the other WuCongCong signatures like the Okigokko3 and Martian + that dna can be seen in the Marina 9. I personally love what the LEP/Jigun brand is doing an have bought other yoyos. They make really good yoyos with many that are affordable for the most part. With the earlier release of the Insulator Max nearly two years prior they were one of the first to jump on the tri material trend for wide yoyos very early on. A trend embraced by other brands.

I actually got this last night, but I wanted to give it the attention it deserves. @Simyo gone an done it again!

I purchased an AL starfire used about a year ago and I absolutely loved it. Very responsive and confusionlike, ya can swap over to a halfspec w/o doing any changes! Great features for a great throw. I purchased one of his new 3d starfires and I wasn’t disappointed.

Here’s a pic of it unpacked. Yeah? The weight rings are kinda obvious here, who’d ever miss those? :man_facepalming:

And when your ready to pack it up? The whole thing packs up easy, with a ready made cradle for your “string’an’rings”. Everything fits nice and snug an compact.

I now recall knowing it shipped with added weight rings but forgot it initially. Threw it for a few hours before “re-discovering” the added weight rings! An absolutely great throw! Again, lots of really cool features. Glad I was able to scoop one! I’m not sure if any are left, but should you have the opportunity, get one. Thanks Tim :+1::folded_hands::collision::grin:

My Duncan Profire came today! Came with an extra set of brake pads, and someone installed a bearing in this one. I used the bearing and brake pads to rebuild a rusty Dragonfly I’ve had for a while, and put a wood sleeve in the Profire, downgrading it to an Ignite…

Next yo yo mail day, I’ll get to see what’s up with these Boise Woodworks things… Been on a serious plastic kick, and haven’t got a good wood one in a while. Totally stoked!

Scored a good deal on this 44Emporium Feather Ti. (Which is already a good deal at the normal price)

Man this is a nice yoyo.

The owner of Wild mentioned the engineering and manufacturing for this style of yoyo is three years old. The playability is said be better than bi metals. I think the LEP Insulator Pro or Max introduced type of design that’s more brands are embracing now.

I mean this is just a hybrid yoyo…

IYoyo have been doing this for almost a decade. I have a A mazal Top Mentsch that’s approximately 3 years old that’s almost exactly this design.
