What did you get in the mail, 2025?

My spouse has a beloved image/gag that I realized would be amazing on a yoyo. So I got this Dazzling Dave heritage woodie engraved with the image.

It says: “Ourobouros cannot have any more ourobouros until it finishes its ourobouros.”

Huge shout out to @AudreySickburn, we did a trade of wares and they sent me a huge care package. Andy designs some wild and fun yo-yos. They were also kind enough to print me some replacement parts for the wing mechanism in my original 1995 Buzz Lightyear toy that is now a one of my son’s favourites.

A sleeper in the collection is the heart button yo- yo that is printed with a 60% brass HTPLA filament. I really like the shape and weight of it - it’s a great challenge and fun fixie that plays great. It’s all printed as one piece.

The initial product was a big rough in texture but looking into the material I found out that I could sand and polish it! (something I have lots of experience with jewelry making).

Before:

BAM! I am so thrilled with how it turned out! It feels almost like metal now! lol it a weird and super cool material!

After:

Thanks again Andy!

It looks incredible polished up like that! Now I’m wondering if I could tumble them in a rock tumbler or vibratory tumbler to automate polishing….

Ya apparently you can, it likely won’t turn out the same though. I put lots of elbow grease into this.

I can tell!!! I have… somewhere around 8 to 10 more of those I printed in brass and stainless and also a single tungsten one that is even smaller and I was thinking to myself it would be nice to clean them up in bulk because I wouldn’t want to do what you did a dozen times over lol!

Like this is just a loose handful I found in my workshop, I made more. I make so freaking many yo-yos lol.

You are a good friend and it’s a good choice. The performance is really great but I’m not feeling the lot of rim weight feel during play. And then I realize in the middle of a combo how strong it’s still going. And surprisingly good with tech considering the width. I did after playing it stock for a bit replace the bearing with an NSK.

What is the red one, steel?

Yeah the red ones are stainless steel powder. Same rough weight as the brass ones. Also I’m making some blue ones right now and I made blue pocket satellites.

Is the blue one also steel?

I got a pile of throw yo string and a pair of weird aluminum fixed axles made by a company that makes car parts. I guess they made them during the yoyo boom and forgot about them and then found them and listed them up for sale. Honestly don’t play great but they are interesting and I like interesting yo-yos.

Nice stuff and being a car I had to look up the company. I imagine you may have already looked it up but thought I’d share

Yeah I bought them direct from ada racing. I found them by googling “billet aluminum yoyo” out of curiosity.

Ohh yeah how are those. I have looked at them before but dismissed them
