Coro Coro! 3a rise up! It gets a strong reaction from non Yoyo people and itâs just a super cool trick. Literally that trick got me to play the style hah!
Plus Coro has a ton of cool variations like double wrap coros, cross arm, btb, the little mini one out of trapeze or kinky trapeze dismount, all the Aliyah tan variations, etc!
Iâve been working a little bit on a boingy-boing into rock the baby into some kind of arm or leg grind combo just to give casual non-yoyoers something to recognize among my tricks. I havenât fully worked it out though.
I really donât think DNA will be topped for a long time, itâs the modern walk the dog, but so much better. On top of that Hyper-Yo-Yo is coming back and their entire line is based off of doing the DNA really easily.
The main thing about the DNA is the interaction it allows. I canât think of any other trick you can do with another person like this. Itâs like going to a Harlem Globetrotter game, standing in the court with the player, and he sets the ball on your finger and youâre able to spin it like they do.
That sort of interaction is virtually priceless for starting a kidâs interest or love for the hobby. DNA gives anyone the ability to âyoyoâ without actually having to yoyo. But it gives them that spark that lets them know âwow, I can do this!â The added bonus is how good the DNA looks.
The downside to all of this is that⌠Walk the Dog was like, trick 5 or something. The DNA requires you to know how to horizontally throw, catch the yoyo on your finger, then bind. Itâs not the greatest âentryâ trick for learning progression imo which is probably itâs only issue it has.
The only other trick I could ever see having this potential at fame is Rancid Milk.
The reason behind this is because, once the baseline skill of yoyo grows Rancid Milk will become even more of a staple for people to throw. I swear, every year on instagram, thereâs two weeks thatâs full of everyone throwing Rancid Milk without notice, it just happens organically. No other trick has that power aside from DNA being blasted 24/7.
I wasnât thinking about a trick that can have variations so much, but that is a good attribute for a viral trick to have. There is Saturn Flop (like a horizontal Mach 5) and a 3A version of Mach 5, but I think if weâre going for tricks that can be adapted, there are better (e.g. boingy boing as others have said, Eli Hops).
Gyroscopic flop used to be more popular - perhaps it could make a comeback with room to grow into things like gyrolutions. Again, a much easier trick than DNA to learn. However, considering how many kids have managed to learn the DNA, perhaps we shouldnât underestimate what level of tricks could go viral.
Thatâs actually a really cool take. I hadnât thought of that contributing to the DNAâs popularity that much.
I doubt Rancid Milk will ever be anywhere near the ballpark of walk the dog, rock the baby, now dna. Each of these tricks are very singular. Rancid Milk is wwaayyyy too deep for common public.
