Happy 4th of July throwing a classic in Red, White and Blue Duncan FHZ
I agree
down forget the green leaves in the back ground
Nope, no more vibe than usual
Haven’t posted here or in mail day for a while, have gotten a lot of good stuff lately that I’m just trying my best not to neglect any. But here’s my current rotation, in order of most recently acquired: MMC, Diffraction 2, Ti-Vayder, Kuntosh 5000QV, SWA, Delrin Wedge, Decoy, Puff Adder, Boa, Komodo
Iceberg getting love today. These things are an absolute blast. One of my favorites I bought this year.
Autobot scum
It fits soo well in the hands too!
Vitality looks great! I’ve never seen this one!
Questions:
- When were these made?
- How many were made?
- What are the specs?
- What was the inspiration?
a dv888 with hubstacks is basically a cursed image
So the inspiration was based around one of my favorite older throws, and one of my first Metal yo-yo’s the Pro-Yo/Playmaxx Cold Fusion GT.
I at one point owned a heavily modified CFGT with a Large Bearing SPR Kit that had a custom Slant wall that brought the CFGT out by about 3mm and added an angular string gap much like the Vitality.
I decided to get licensing from One Drop for the Side Effect Axle System, and had Landon help me re-engineer my CAD file.
Foxland Precision did the machining and it was the first, and as far as I know, only throw with Side Effects to be machined by someone other than One Drop. (With their permission of course, Alvin had direct communication with David and mostly Shawn)
I released a grand total of 49 in 6061 and 1 in 7075.
Every single Vitality was anodized a different colorway, no doubles other than a couple raw and a few that were sent in to OD for pyramatting.
When I released them, I did it with my friend
Jakes company name, since he was already established at the time, and was part of the yoyo club I helped run with another friend.
(Bigyoyostring was the Company we went under, which is many years defunct)
It was pretty well received by everyone who ever got to try one or own one and that always made me smile!
Here are a couple links for reviews/yoyowiki.

Yo-Yo Wiki Entry about the Vitality
If I remember correctly, the release was around September 2013.
Some units were sold by me via the BST’s and other very special colorways were released on YoYoCommunity back when Tony was still around.
Hope that answered everything you wanted to know!
Great story about your yoyo! Is there a reason you never made any follow up designs? Or did you make more?
Quite a bit happened in life, would probably be the simplest way to put it unfortunately.
Club shut down, the hobby shop shut down (where I sold OD, ILYY, and many others), club members got older and moved away, inspiration went away.
Money.
So many things. Lol.
I’m unfortunately bad at “adulting” apparently.
I’ve always wanted to come back and make something again but it really seems like a saturated market, at least more so than it was some years back, even then it was a struggle.
Everyone wants the cheapest yoyo they can get, and it hurts progress and unfortunately profit.
People like to also copy each other’s designs and it destroys the throw made previously when that company decided to sell their throw for 40 bucks less… because they went with China to make their throws for pennies (not literally, but SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper).
I will not name names by any means, but it happened, only thing that was different was it didn’t have SE.)
It really kills the fire that I once had.
I’d love to get back into it again some day, but really not sure if I ever will.
I still have all my old files and such, and maybe someday will do an anniversary release of the Vitality, but that one boils down mostly to funds.
And we all know how money sucks. Lol
I truly appreciate the questions.
I can’t explain the feels.
I really missed this forum.
Thanks so much for the telling us some of your personal yoyo story! It’s really neat to see the only SE yoyo not machined by OD! That design looks like it would still be well received today. Hopefully life will cooperate and maybe you can make another design one day. Enjoyed reading all the details on the Vitality!
Welcome Back!!!
Aw man, that sucks to hear. Welcome back to the forums though!
