In your opinion, do those drilled holes do anything, besides looking cool?

Well they reduce the weight lol. Idk if the Icarus feels the way it does because of the holes or not, but I’d like to think it feels “unique” because of the holes. I’m a big fan, but I would be curious to know if there was a proto without the holes and how it played compared to this one. Thats a question for the @DocPop though.

My theory is that they

  • reduce middle weight
  • create more airflow to keep the loop open during suicides

I’ve never made a hole-less Icarus BUT I’ve been thinking about it lately. The holes add a ton of cost to the yo-yo since they can’t be done on the lathe. So I’ve been thinking about doing a run of Icarus SE (or something like that) that are the exact same design but without the holes and maybe in a single color. Then I can finally try a side by side comparison.
