(Warning, not for the reading impaired or those with ‘I don’t like long stories’ syndrome)
So, My wife sends me a text saying I received a package today in the mail. Of course at the time I was out in Los Angeles, where the bullets and the switchblades meet. Not exactly in a position to open my package.
I get home around 11 PM Pacific time and walk by the box which is on the dining room table. I figured that before I opened it up and played with my new toy. I would do some of the normal tasks that are awaiting me as usual.
I decide that after I complete my tasks I will open the box. I certainly will. No problem with that. I made it my mind.
In the process of doing this and that I run into a couple other things that need to be done. I decide no problem. I’ll get this stuff done and then……… I will open my package.
Now it’s past midnight and why not just keep doing stuff like installing the new washing machine that’s right outside the back door of the washroom. No problem, getting it in the house myself even though the doorway opening was only a quarter inch wider than the width of the washing machine. Kinda like parallel parking a truck between two other trucks when the space you have is only 2 feet longer in the length of your truck. Oh, you can do it… But you better not be in a rush lol
The final thing is attaching the discharge hose to the wall behind the washer. Simple enough it seemed?
The edge of the clamping bracket somehow just happened to be sharp as a utility razor blade… Probably because the stamping machine was not that sharp and sort of smashed the edge down into an edge. So as I grabbed it, I sliced the side of my index finger on my throwing hand. I started bleeding like a stuck pig. Blood doesn’t bother me. Except when it doesn’t wanna stop. Razorcuts are that way.
I finally got it to stop and I had decided as soon as I get the blood to stop I’ll open that box and play with my new toy. So I got some liquid Band-Aid And painted a couple coats of it on the cut and dried it with a little heat gun.
My finger didn’t even start throbbing until I put that liquid Band-Aid on it would lit me up pretty good lol fortunately having a very high pain threshold, I just shook my head and said what else could happen?
Since I looped the string on the middle finger of my left hand, I figured the index finger would not really help or anything be on a certain point.
So out of the box comes the Lord of the rings yo-yo.
Installed the string attached to hand throw the yo-yo down. Shake head smile a lot bind return throw the yo-yo down shake head more smile a lot more bind return… Stare at yo-yo.
It was just several days ago that I decided the liminal autoscopy was one of the very best yo-yos I’ve ever thrown. And now here I am making some mental readjustment and facing the reality that this yo-yo mark designed is not only as good, but might just be better
This yo-yo isn’t just the Lord of the rings. It just may be up for the title of the Lord of the strings.
What makes it even more interesting is it cost only a little more than half of what the yo-yo recreation cost, And please, like it could easily cost that much not that people necessarily Correlate price to performance. We all know that doesn’t work sometimes. I mean how many of us have a $50 yo-yo that probably plays better than a $200 yo-yo? Not uncommon nowadays.
Obviously, it’s hard to actually draw a conclusion as to how amazing a yo-yo is, regardless of your skill level, and regardless of how many yo-yos you’ve thrown, for the simple reason if nothing else, that most people that give a critique on a yo-yo have not tried every yo-yo out there… Maybe not even half or a quarter of all the yo-yos that are out there now.
So if I say man, this yo-yo is really good, It certainly is really good. But primarily it’s based on compared to other yo-yos that I have tried and can’t possibly be compared to something I’ve never touched.
But that being said, with all the hundreds of yo-yos that I have touched and tossed Around overtime, I have developed a pretty good knack Of identifying yo-yos that play pretty darn good.
So when people ask, what is the best yo-yo that you’ve thrown in 2024? I think it’s really great timing that Mark released his yo-yo right before the end of the year. Because everybody that had already made up their mind what their opinion would be of the best yo-yo of 2024, Whichever of them ends up getting this Lord of the ring model is gonna have to do some rethinking in their order of yo-yo awesomeness…
Because this yo-yo is pretty darn awesome!
I ended my little throwing session by doing a quick bid when you still have some good power to it and it came right back and smacked me right in my cut finger and completely Knocked any tiredness that I was experiencing after my long day. I was having so much fun. I had almost forgotten that I jacked up my finger.
So it’s not only Lord of the ring it’s Lord of the Sting😂
I sure wish I wouldn’t have missed out on the unseen edition. I don’t feel that darker yo-yos are on the favorite part of my spectrum, but there are exceptions in that unseen edition is a real beauty. I heard that there were about 20 of them and they sold out in 20 seconds. And since I didn’t even know they were being dropped until several hours after the drop. I guess I didn’t have much of a chance To snag one.
But all the colors look pretty darn slick. I think the price is great easily justified. The packaging is great and the theme is great.
Mark did a great job without a doubt.
