Working on the Junyi trick now. Almost there just gotta figure out this weird undercut at the end before the final hop into the GT. Seems so awkward.

Edit: got that undercut finally

Yo I thought of a couple things that can help make the suicide element at the end of the trick we did last week easier to catch.

Major thought—right before lifting and releasing off TH thumb, make sure that there is as much separation as possible between the strings on the index and the strings on TH thumb. The strings on the thumb should be bent far away from the trapeze plane like off at an angle. TH should be spread out wide and aim for as large of an angle as possible. This helps to open up the loop and makes it much easier to catch.

Minor thought—helps if the string is right at the tip of TH thumb before releasing; less variables that way to effect the trajectory of the loop.

That element is definitely something that can get really consistent and hopefully these tips help anyone struggling to find the technique to make that happen. Here’s a repeater of it w a fun setup I found when unrolling from kamikaze.

Thanks for the additional tips, I still can’t land that trick to save my life

I’m getting more consistent with last weeks and got this week’s down. I really like this week’s trick it’s fun. Gotta record them sometime soon. Im just lazy with recording.

Ive really been slacking on learning new tricks this summer. Feels good to get back at it.

I did a combo with a slight variation on the trick, might make a tutorial for it. I really like how this flows

I just found this cool trick tutorial that uses the Tsukasa Mamba trick that was featured last week:

Week 33 Tsukasa Namba suicide

Man, it has been a long time since I have had the capacity to fully get something down.

Thanks all for the tips on this, I was definitely not getting it but the advice helped me get the opening up of the slack.

Here’s last week’s Tsukasa’s:

And here’s this week’s Junyi’s…

I really like this week’s trick. It’s a lot of fun especially whipping that GT around at the end. I still gotta work on it some more.

Week 35 - A Star in Paris

After @Ironical_Monocle1 posted Alexis JV’S trick that incorporated the Tsukasa Namba trick I started poking through their tutorials and found a bunch that could be great TAW tricks, and this star seemed like a fun one to start with since we’ve been picture-light this year.

Really recommend taking a spin through all their tutorials if you’re looking for inspiration - I especially love how many tricks have versions done with front spin (including this one!).

I actually added this to my “to learn later” list… definitely some good stuff on his channel.

Nice I don’t know many tricks like these picture/tower type ones. I’ve been subscribing to a bunch of new tutorial channels Ive havent known about from this thread.

Week 34. Sorry I’m a little late. It came out sloppy because I started learning the trick late and didn’t have enough time to practice. Maybe I’ll practice some more in the future…

@GTDropKnot how are you doing that double swing detach bind thingy? (don’t be intimidated by all my technical jargon :winking_face_with_tongue:)… I know how to do the regular detach bind, but all the strings get jammed up when I try the double string flip thingamajig…

Yeah the iizuka bind! Love that bind yo! Basically just release and hop a bit and carry the the string around in a circle like just draw a circle around the yoyo. if youre getting tangled, make sure you dont hit the string coming off th yoyo finger as you go around so kinda move it forward.

Ill go find the tut I learned it from one sec

aim to keep the tail that will bind the yoyo on the inside of the string coming off th and that on the outside. Once you get the feel it will be easy but it was funky at first for me like felt weird and then it just clicked

Thats a cool bind. I need to learn some new ones, havent in awhile. I always want to learn the one where you kinda reverse whip it into the gap but I suck at the reverse whipping.
