Seeing snow like you guys have is another world to me. Totally foreign.

It was 30 degrees last week. It’s 75 this week while still dipping below freezing in the night time. No snow. It’s going to be almost 80 for Christmas most likely. Then it’ll whip around in time for new years to ice the highway just enough to make it a death trap.

It hit 50 degrees today. The snow may be gone but at least we get to keep our inversion.

Don’t worry, you’ll get yer chance. :upside_down_face:

So far Minneapolis has had 11 in. of snow this season. About 8-9 in. left. In the 30 deg F range last week. -15 to -20 this week. High 30s in the next couple of days. Jet stream is undulating again.

Ya don’t need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows.

Yeah… that’s REAL cold right there. I used to have way more tolerance for it.

Lots of WA has been flooding, my brother had to evacuate, luckily I live on some elevation and away from bodies of water. Still seeing way more rain than I’ve seen for the area before. Never heard of atmospheric rivers before now.

To clarify (for some people)…
Pineapple Express!

Thanks for clarifying lol. Even experiencing the crazy weather I didn’t know what that river was called. When he commented Pineapple Express I assumed they talked about atmospheric rivers some time randomly in the movie and I forgot about it :joy:

They do mention the the weather effect briefly in the movie if I recall correctly, which is where the (at the time fictional) strain got its name. It has been bred into reality, tho I doubt the Atmospheric River Pineapple Express came into play creating it.

Edit: found it

Explicit language, drug warning lol

The current forecast for Missouri has Christmas Day at 63 degrees F. :smiling_face_with_tear:

PNW bracing for a new PineappleExpress to hit in the next two days. For those who do not know a Pineapple Express is a continuous atmospheric river that starts in Hawaii and channels huge amounts of moisture at the US West coast. What makes them unique is the volume of rain mixed with the continuous nature of it prevents the soil from draining. This leads to trees coming down , landslides and flooding.

Oof more coming?! At my place the weather phenomenon is bringing in a ton of wind with the rain, 60+ mph gusts that keep waking everyone up. My neighbors fence blew away. A dumpster blew down the street and dented my car up. Christmas decorations are blowing around like tumbleweeds along with the real tumbleweeds. Still grateful I’ve escaped the flooding so far. I’ll let my brother know though because he may have to evacuate again. His family went days without power and running water and half the road to his place sunk into the river.

Sounds like a real mess. Good luck to you and your family.
Puts more minor weather inconveniences in perspective.

This forecasted storm ended up tracking south and only gave us two inches. Then we had a warm rainy day that melted almost all of the snow. Fortunately we had another storm come through last night, and it’s still snowing now. Here’s a pic of my backyard from last night.

I find the light in the door window very comforting.

Yes, we had similar here mid week last week we had 8-9 in. on the ground, then temps in the high 30, low 40s and some rain. Then freezing again. Now we have 1-2 inches of icy frozen snow let in a few places. The plowed piles are like concrete now.
