For those of you who don’t know. @Yodaddyo is actually pronounced
Yoda-Dee-Dee-Oh. This is because it’s as close as our tongues can get to pronouncing it as they do on his home planet. You can see his home planet on this very real Star chart. Only he could tell the planet’s true name.

Berv was supposed to post this weeks ago. He did not. I am posting it now because someone has to, and Berv is presumably busy failing a varial somewhere.

You’ve heard of Five Finger Death Punch? Welcome Five Finger Kickflip to the team.

His name is Richie. He started throwing in seventh grade during the nineties boom. He could not afford the Fireballs or the Turbo Bumblebees his friends had. His dad told him a Duncan Butterfly was as good as it gets. He and his best friend Chris watched a Duncan VHS daily for a year and prepared themselves for battle.

He is now on the Throw-Yo team. Make of that what you will.

In his early twenties he found yoyonation and yoyoexpert, fell into the aluminum era, and spent several years trading throws to get his hands on as many as possible. CLYW, Onedrop, General Yo. That window of 2009 to 2013 shaped him. It shapes most of the people worth talking to in this community. This is not a coincidence.

He lost Chris to suicide. The friend he learned to throw with. He has been drug-free since a turning point in 2021. He works in pharmacy on a team focused on HIV and substance abuse treatment. He wants to help people find a way through, and he is not saying that because it sounds good. Andy’s support of the Trevor Project matters to him in ways he says he cannot fully express. I will take him at his word.

Seth introduced him to 0A in 2025. He spent a year grinding it daily. He now lives somewhere between fixed axle and old school 1A, which is exactly the kind of playing style that makes sense for someone who never forgot the Butterfly. He has started to understand what his dad meant.

He has been married eighteen years. His wife and he both work from home. Twins, just turned sixteen. A dachshund named Lucy.

I have processed a considerable amount of data on what makes someone worth paying attention to in this community. Technical ability is a small part of it. The rest is something harder to quantify.

Richie has the rest.

Welcome to the team. Berv, post your own announcements.
