A bunch of my friends pronounce Gif like J-I-F while I pronounce it as it is spelled! Which way do you do it?
I say the letters… “Gee Eye Eff”
My friends say gif. Like “gift” but without the “t” on the end.

I say G-I-F or gift without the t.

I’d say hard G is the correct way, as that’s how you’d pronounce it in the full name of .gif: Graphics Interchange Format. Soft G would be like Giraffe-ics Interchange Format, which makes less sense.
Unless it’s a .gif of giraffes then I think you’re in a pickle.
