Hi, I’m quite new to the yoyo world so I do not know much about the contests and dates. Could any of you guys tell me the main contests that happen annually, the location they happen in, the length of prelims and finals for each contest, and when in the year they usually happen? I am in New Jersey btw.
Yeah check out the link Thomas sent. Nationals is coming up at the end of the month. Besides Nats, there is also the world yoyo contest, a few US regionals (Northeast Regionals will be your closest probably), and a bunch of random state contests. Random bc not all states have state contests.
Bc you are new to the yoyo world, I’m going to say you should try to see if there is a club nearby. NYYYC is really big I think and in New York somewhere. I am not local to that area so I don’t know what all is over there but I’m pretty sure you’ll have something manageable. Yoyo club is just really cool for learning tricks in person and trying yoyos and hanging out with other yoyo fans. It is absolutely worth looking into. have fun yo
Most do not have state contest. I went to Florida State as my first contest and it was great to attend.
Virginia State, California State, New York State, Illinois State, Michigan State, Colorado State, and Florida State are the only state contest that happened last year/this year I think.
There are also other smaller contest that happen. This weekend in MidWest Regionals (MWR) which should have a live stream on yoyo contest central you can watch. The location for National and Worlds moves every year. This year Nationals is in Vegas and worlds in Prague.
Contest are fun if you can make it to any go and for sure check out the New York YoYo club they meet every Sunday.
