I think the OP puts in there to show importance, but like I said, I don’t really know.
When you start a new thread or post any reply there will be a drop down menu under the subject line that says “Message icon:”
You can choose:
Standard
Thumb Up

Exclamation Point
Question Mark

Angry
Cheesy
Grin
Sad
Wink
