I like my response so responsive the yoyo comes back to me.
Clear flowable with a deep recess provides me a nice snappy response but still doesnt tend to snag for me, at least on the yoyo/string combos I play. I play thicker nylon heavy blends and gaps Iâd consider fairly normal.
Edit: I voted the high-response because I dont tend to like slippy response and thanks to @GTDropKnotâs words I interpreted that option as âsnappyâ instead of snaggy lol
Between slippy and snaggy I def prefer slippy. Slippy is less disruptive during actual play and mostly just becomes a factor when binding.
But I canât imagine thereâs a single person who doesnât love that snap/crack of a very nice, tight bind.
Nothing more satisfying than a big SNAP at the end of a combo with a tight bind lol
It is painful when you just clean a bearing and you put on too much lube so it becomes responsive then you HAVE to clean it again.
It has happened more than once
So low response any day (Even a thursday)
just run the bearings dry, problem solved and avoided =]
I only say snagy because itâs easier to adjust slack binds for snagy, but it can be difficult to get a good slack bind in with a slippery yoyo, especially with a short string or low spin
true but I like them a bit more silent
if thats the case you can usually play through the responsiveness if you just give it some time too =]
Yeah I lube my bearings a lot and just play them until theyâre unresponsive again or you can use canned air and spin the bearing until it is back to unresponsive.
This is The Way
I really like how the Peregrine binds once the pads are worn in. When the pads were brand new it was way too snaggy. Even with the pads worn in I feel like people may consider it slightly snaggy though I havenât had any issues with it worn in. Its so amazing when it comes to binds though it doesnât ever miss. The only other yoyo I have that binds better is the Creep and that yoyo will definitely snag at times with too many strings.
Pole is closed!! Thank you all for the responses!
It seems it was a responsive set of responses
Between the two, I suppose snaggy. I like tight, consistent binds (though not unexpectedly getting smacked in the hand or knots).
Speaking of this topic, I recently got a new throw that is way more slippery than my liking. Any tips on how to improve this? I already moved up from a thinner string to Kitty First Class.
Well what thickness of kitty fc? If you go up to fat and itâs still slippy or if you donât want to use fat strings, you can get softer response pads. Rso peach are super soft and grippy or Hollywood modern yo-yos started selling some softer pads pretty recently. Also clear flowable silicone if youâre down to do that.
Iâm not entirely sure since the string was (generously) given to me, but I believe itâs normal. I think Iâll just try to be more mindful on my binds and see if I can get used to it for now. If it still bothers me, I may do the flowable silicone if itâs softer. Iâve seen tutorials that make it look messy, but doable. Thanks for the advice!
