BT Anodizing has been killing it. It’s crazy how consistently good these splashes are compared to the bulk of stuff from the past decade.

I mean, what sets these anodizing jobs apart from what’s been done over the last ten years?
For example:

(2:06–2:13)

Or the work you can see from GBA:

In fact, looking at some of the photos—including one posted above and another from a different post—I can’t quite tell if the black areas are just dusty or if there are actual coverage defects. Either way, the overall visual effect gives me the impression of a very thin anodized layer, and honestly, it doesn’t look like anything special.

Look at the vast majority of the CLYW splashes that have come out over the past decade, even One Drop in the past decade has had a span of several years where they essentially didn’t offer splashes at all. I don’t think it really needs to be elaborated on for those who have been following releases.

I also just wanna point out that you linked a video from 14 years ago, and it’s been who knows how long since Gruntbull last actually did a production batch of yoyos.

Forgive me; I didn’t realize I had to be precise about the month and year to back up your theory.
Fair enough, but personally, it still doesn’t strike me as anything particularly special or unique—it’s nice, but nothing that makes me say “wow” or makes my jaw drop, because I know I’ve seen much better in the past (even if my brain isn’t a cataloged database). For starters, those aren’t really “splashes”; the masking material (rubber cement) wasn’t splashed on but poured, and—strictly for my own taste—I like that much less. It makes me far prefer finishes like these (if we’re sticking to CLYW) in terms of execution, vibrancy, and overall effect.

I’m not a huge fan of washed-out or muted colors, and I still can’t tell if that black area just has dust on it (though that seems odd, given the shape of the small specks and the fact that the yoyo is brand new) or if there are flaws in the coating.
In short, it’s undoubtedly a nice colorway, but it’s nothing earth-shattering.

I don’t wanna derail this thread too much, but it’s kinda funny how much you want to try and debate what was intended to be a positive post of “Wow! I like the new colorways, I think their current anodizer is doing good work!”

May I kindly ask that we keep the thread free & clear of ano discussion/debate and pretty much just to Summit 2 pics? That’s the reason I started the thread.

I was happy with my pale blue but now I’m lamenting the rose fade again.

Good catch. Tbh I have no idea it has a very interesting look to it. Nothing some white nubs can’t fix.

My first brass side effects have landed :airplane_arrival: this being my first throw to experiment with side effects in general I wasn’t sure what to expect, but the brass truly feels fantastic in the Summit 2!

The brass SE on Spanish Moss looks absolutely stellar. This is probably my favorite Summit 2 I’ve seen so far!
