PC state would go hard

Heavily rim weighted responsives are very meh. Sounds great in theory but bimetal and hybrid fixies and responsive have never really been that great. Just look at the Duncan bumblebee…

I do think a delrin responsive would be fun. I like the thing so a more rounded throw would be neat in that catagory especially with Toybania gone.

Machined pc specifically. A deepest state mould pc would feel cheap and not be the move even though it wouldn’t suffer from the exploding problem others have had in that realm with side effects or cabal guts

Exploding problem?

Moulded pc on a al hub have been known to self destruct if the al is not perfectly clean and even then the plastic can crack just due to stresses

delrin rims perhaps? AL body even?

Interesting. I didn’t know that!

Loving this discussion

I mean the doc pop pltps did that. I didn’t love it as much but it wasn’t bad just not my thing.

They can be done without issue by those that have learned how to but seeing as OD hasn’t done pc ( that I know of) I would worry about that

Hang on so is the cracking more of an issue with moulded or machined polycarbonate?

Also I thought the Rally was polycarbonate?

EDIT: it is One Drop presents the Rally - #8 by da5id

Ohh interesting I never had a rally.

If it’s machined stock it’s fine the issue with the plastic 000 was it was a mould over an al hub that was then machined. The al hub was most like dirty or had defects that caused stress and then the machining ontop of it added more stress .

The cabal guts kind of eliminate that issue though

This is my understanding at least someone with more knowledge feel free to beat me up in the comments lol

There was no overmolding with the Rally. The cracks happened only on some of the colors when there was a certain overlapping of tolerances that made the pressed weight ring too tight and possibly changing temperature conditions. The guts system is the same as the Cabal. The reason is was certain colors, is that the recipe is different and so the brittleness varied.

Ultimately it was a combination of a lot of factors.

Any idea what colours? I’ve only seen cracked green ones I think

Green ones for sure. That was the main culprit. I think yellow as well.

I have a red and a white soooo :crossed_fingers:

I believe the dirty hub thing was what we determined caused the Plasm cracking

That was Jeff’s explanation for the plastic triple zero too along with a shallow hub depth into the mould.

Hybrids same thing as the rally but rims being too tight which is why most yyj don’t last.
