Number of Silenus revisions?

I was looking at Silenus on a different store and there were two entries, “Silenus” and “Silenus (2020)”. The “Silenus” had a release year of 2021 in its description. I was googling and the Silenus has been around for quite a few years (I think it came out in 2015 or 2016?) and there was another “new Silenus” that was released around 2018.

Which leads to the question in the topic title: how many different revisions have there been? Four? i.e.

  • Silenus (og)
  • Silenus (2018)
  • Silenus (2020)
  • Silenus (2021)

or are some of those redundant?

Yep, I also thought there were only two versions at first but the 2020/2021 distinction is confusing me.

The 2020/2021 distinction of the Silenus is due to Topyo updating the weight of the Silenus on the 11th of December, 2021. The Silenus weight has been decreased from 67.6g to 66.1g.

So then there’s three versions?

  • Silenus (og) - circa 2015/2016
  • Silenus 2018 (aka Silenus 2020 on that other website?)
  • Silenus 2021 - reduced weight Silenus

Yeap, I think that’s the case.

Unfortunately, like YYF and the Shutter, Topyo doesn’t document the minor revisions or changes which makes it all the more difficult to figure out. Between the OG and the 2018 version, the changes are undocumented and the differences are minute, but they resulted in a noticeable difference in play. The final one for the reduction in weight is documented on Topyo’s Instagram and Facebook.

Does anyone have the newest lighter one? Is the lighter weight very noticeable? I love the Silenus and while it’s hefty it doesn’t feel very heavy. I doubt I will buy another just for a gram and half reduction in weight but I might trade one of my extra Silenus for the lighter one. At $32 the Silenus is absolute steal.

I’ll be able to compare the two directly in about two months or so, I’ll be sure to post a comparison. 1.5g doesn’t sound like a lot but I’d be surprised if it wasn’t noticeable.

I bought a new one. I actually didn’t know they weighed differently until now… however, I will say I play the new one a bit more frequently because it seems to “pop” off the string easier.

I thought it was all in my head.
Now I’m second guessing myself, and maybe it’s that tiny bit of weight difference. :man_shrugging:
