Drooling All of those are absolutely fantastic
It looks like the speckle splash on the Quickmate has textureâŚis that the case?
Under the gloss coat very little. In fact it is very slight even without the gloss maybe 1.5 or 2 mil.
ILYY Lynx in a translucent blue. Just got out of the oven and had to snap a few quick pics. This thing is ridiculous looking. Will take a few pics tomorrow in the sun in itâs full blue glory and replace these. Itâs scheduled to go in for some more work so I will post pics of that as wellâŚ
Man, that blue is stunning. Iâve looked through this thread a few times, youâre really REALLY tempting me to bite the bullet and get something off your B/S/T.
Oooops!! I am very sorry folks as I forgot to take some extra pics of the Lynx in the sun. So there wonât be any more of this gem.
That is beautiful.
Seems like I have been slinging some serious lies around here!
Final product of the ILYY Lynx. Has a blasted finished with satined spikesâŚ
how does it grind? It looks great
So excited to get my throws back! My beautiful lynx!
So so with the grinds. Blasting it knocks down the âstickinessâ of the gloss but the powder is not the ultimate medium for grinding.
Working on the Chief now.
Yess!
Lol thatâd powder? It looks like anno. I love the satined spikes too.
I had never had a Lynx in my hands before and I have to say I am impressed with the machining of this little number. Nice weight very deliberate when you throw it, makes you feel tough.
As far as the blasted finish goes I am on the fence about it personally. I really love the gloss of the powders but the blast does give it a very unique look and feel stock powder canât achieve.
Next powder I am going to get in stock is a âblasted aluminumâ has a blasted texture to it even after cured and looks just like a blasted finish. May put my Blasting operation out of buisness. ;D
Oh I missed that bit. The whole thing is blasted? Thatâs pretty neat.
Youâll have to let us know how the blasted aluminum powder grinds
wait, so does it grind like a blast?
Not really. Iâd have to say itâs in between. Straight powder with a high gloss doesnât grind well because of the super smooth surface, a lot of friction. The blasted powder basically has the gloss knocked off and a very slight texture to it and I mean slight. Nothing like a true blast. It does grind better than stock powder but I wouldnât say it makes a huge difference, only a little.
Here is the winner of the powder coat contest: baerinatux and his 888 it has a polished body with solar rain stripes running across the catch up to the outer edge of the rim. Also has a clear coat over top to preserve the polish. Comes in a custom fitted box lettered especially for him and has two color matched strings by me, MB.
It was my pleasure to do this as baerinatux gave me total freedom to do as I please on his project. Congratulations to him and thank you to all who participated in the contest. Keep your eyes out for another contest somewhere around 6500 views.
