It was designed by Zach Lytle (better known these days for his battle bots builds) around 2009.
I helped work out the cad and manufacturing for it and they were done in a i think single short run at the time. It’s a fun yoyo, especially paired with magnetic 5a dice.
That’s my Magnetude! I was on a kick where I wanted as many different “hub stack” yo-yos as I could find. I think I still have it too, no packaging as I bought/traded for it used.
“run” isn’t how I’d put it - I still host the site, and if something breaks I try to fix it but that’s the limit of my involvement. I haven’t bought a new yo-yo in years, I think the last was a dragon slayer Deep State so that would’ve been around 2018 I think.
If you ever get to the point you no longer wish to own the site please let us all know. I’m sure someone in the community will gladly keep it going. I know @rkalajian Has taken over running and updating the yoyo archive @theyoyoarchive but the museum of yoyo history is so valuable I couldn’t imagine it disappearing and I know one of us would willing step up to pay for update and or host the site
I think this is the coolest fact that I didn’t know
“In addition, the 2 different colors of Magnetude (red and black) are also opposing polarities so that during 3A play the yo-yos can be joined for amazing original tricks.”
I had one of these back then and traded it for a Starwars Yomega Glide… the glue holding the magnets into the stacks kept chipping off and getting in the bearings and it overall was just not a great yoyo in my opinion.
