Ive heard some people talking about how they thought that CLYW “new” ano’s were lame, generic, un-interesting, and/or downright poor, but I am here to stand against this thought.
What I got in the mail today is stand alone evidence directly to the contrary. These color jobs are OUTSTANDING!
This is just pure unadulterated eye candy! Feast your eyes on this!!
i could see how doing an under ano like that would make people think of yoyofactory… but honestly people these days are just so hung up about things that don’t matter.
This is an example of a good anodizing job… but people would rather complain about how yyf it looks. Why is that such a bad thing. yyf’s anodizings are some of the best ive played with and their splashes and washes tend to be just superb. Clyw may have liked them and decided to give it a try. This is no reason to callout clyw for making a splash that looks like yyf. if you really wanted to make it an issue you would go after everyone making solid yellow anodizes because they look to much like everyone elses yellow. Thing is people dont really scream about all the blue, red, yellow, and other color solid ano that everyone uses these days on yoyos when they come in solids.
The anodizing is a testament to the creator of it and in this case the anodizer knocked it out of the park.
Yeah, there’s no “signature” colorway of one company or the the other. It all comes down to the anodizer if it comes to it. I think it’s a great colorway, but is a LOT of stuff going on. Wonder if the anodizer can do a green galaxy colorway…
The “using a new anodizer” thing has been well explained by CLYW already.
If someone is holding up your business progress, you still gotta the job done. It came to the point that their “original” anodizer was getting backed up and holding up the flow of releases. So they found someone else to help with the task of anodizing. They still use the OG, just not exclusively. In the end, consumers end up with more variety from a great brand.
As for “looking like YYF…”
Well when you share an anodizer… Hmmm… Maybe the anodizer’s style will be… Um? Consistent?
So does it look like YYF ano, or that anodizer’s ano???
this thread isnt to kick the horse that has its own threads to itself but rather just to give praise to an excellent job.
Im just so impressed is all. Not comparing it to what else is out there, or similar, just as its own beauty. Not even taking into consideration just how well it plays and that electric turquoise color when it spins. . . . MMMMH!
I’m also an owner of the Lost In Space colorway. I’m a sucker for these Galaxy-esque colorways that YYF does and this colorway with the added splash is no different. Doesn’t bother me if it has a resemblance of a color style on another manufacturer’s yoyo.
Did clyw recently change their blast finish? My orca and 7075 bonfire have a more shiny and Valor-like finish than my previous clyws, which themselves are already different from yyf’s. I wonder if the blast finishing isnt done at the same place for each of them>
I agree that the colorway looks great. It reminds me of a YoyoFactory, and that’s my opinion. But, if yo-yo companies are not arguing about colorways, I don’t see any point in us caring that much as consumers. If it plays great and looks great, I just buy it. The companies can discuss the rest behind the scenes if they want to. I bought yo-yos from other companies that look strikingly similar to CLYW colorways, but I liked the product, and I bought it. The colorway looks nice, and it’s a great ano’ job, I’d have to totally agree.
It’s just nice to see someone post a thread about buying something that they’re happy to own. I bet he can’t wait to put his first ding in it. I’m hoping to get you all riled up now.
I gave mine a love mark the first day I got it, when filming for the Elders contest. Yes I still love my Orca and it still plays amazing.
I used to be upset by dings but have slowly began to accept them and continue playing after the ear-splitting ping sound I hear. But I’ve told myself that these yoyos were designed to be played with. And I do just that, otherwise I may as well just have them all be museum pieces. I don’t deliberately mark up my throws and try to avoid it if possible but things happen.
