I hate to admit it, but MSG really does make food taste better. Even half a packet in a double batch seems to enhance the flavors.
This website reminds me of a scifi movie where the Federation is really evil but they have all this nice, well-lit propaganda with a woman speaking softly about the benefits of joining up.
Lol Greg, all the MSG talk is cracking me up so much.
I honestly don’t know if I really want to eat Ramen right now… or if I really don’t want to eat anything anymore, that I haven’t seen grow out of the ground myself.
So I brought a Ramen package to work, but just for the noodles. Added leftover taco stuff to it: seasoned beef, tomato, cheese, lettuce. The seasoning from the beef was enough to flavour the noodles, too (inauthentic Old El Paso junk… I know from Mexican food, and this is NOT it, but I love it anyhow!).
Suffice it to say, I have a packet of MSG on my desk right now.
How tempted am I to just boil some water and have MSG broth right now?
BUT, my bro used to/still does have ramen noodles all the time and some of my childhood memories are of him eating them (He’s 21 now.) I think I may have to continue the legacy of my family members eating ramen…
Greg, I think there’s something to the claims that MSG is addictive. Fer ril, yo.
Nemyo, eat ramen! It makes whips faster and slack loops huge! (Claims not tested or approved by the FDA. Not intended to treat or cure any illness. Are we talking about real ramen or the stuff you boil / or shove in the microwave cuz heres my view on both.
-for real ramen i like it in a chicken broth with teriyaki beef, 2 fish cakes, an egg, some veggies and some of these stalks theyre like bamboo, with slightly firm noodles, and the whole thing must be spicy.
-for the stuff you boil i like it tariyaki beef flavor with some veggies.
AND FOR THOSE OF YOU THAT HAVENT TRIED THE REAL THING, YOU MUST ITS AMAZING AND DONT JUST GO SIMPLE, GO CRAZY!!!
I saw a video of a guy in Asia who explained how he cooked his. I still do this whenever I have ramen.
I have my pot with water on the stove. He said to add the flavor packet in proportion to the water, not the ramen. He said to add flavor until the water stopped changing color, so when it stopped getting darker. (example: You have 2 ramen packets, you still only add enough to turn the water golden brown.)
You then add the noodle until they are cooked well but still stretchy. You then remove all of the noodles and put it into a bowl. You then crack and egg into the ramen water still cooking. Once the egg is done, (yolk is still liquid), you take the egg and put it on top of your noodles and pop the yolk. The yummy yolk covers your noodles and then you finish off by adding some of the liquid into the ramen.
I heat mine just to the point where it is 75% soggy and 25% crunchy with a full bowl hot water. I then proceed to pour in bit by bit of MSG with my bites. For ex: I would get a spoonful of noodles and pour in a little bit of the MSG packet.
Step 1: Open up the bag and put the noodles into a bowl of hot water.
Step 2: Microwave for about 2:30 minutes
Step 3: Separate the noodles from it’s square/circle shape with the chopsticks
Step 4: Drain the wax-filled water (wax holds the noodles in that weird unnatural shape, unless the instant noodles you have look like a bird’s nest or some sort).
Step 5: Add more hot water, depending if I want a dry, chow-mein type noodle or a full on noodle soup
Step 6: Add the contents (usually small bits of vegetables or mini-meats in a package)
Step 7: Put it into the microwave for about 1:00 minute
Step 8: Add the Kikkoman Memmi Noodle soup base (a lot healthier than the death flavor packets) Kikkoman Memmi Noodle Soup Base 20 Fl Oz
Step 9: Add a bit of death flavor powder until it is spicy/salty enough
Step 10: Add a pinch/ 1/8 teaspoon of lemon juice/vinegar
Step 11: Slowly drop the noodles into the bowl
Step 12: Add some black seasame seeds
