In 2022 a bar-tailed godwit flew 13,560 kilometres (8,435 miles) from Alaska to Australia without stopping for food or rest. The journey took over 11 days and was tracked using a satellite tag attached to the bird’s back. That’s one third of the planet’s full circumference!
