Dying Mosquito

I’ve been trying to dye my mosquito, I’ve tried,

  1. RIT dye, Hot water, and Acetone
  2. RIT dye, Hot water
  3. RIT dye, Cold water, and Acetone

All these have done is make it darker red instead of Navy Blue. Anyone suggestions or tips?

Note - I’ve put about 3/4 cup of water, 3/4 cup of Acetone, and 1/2 a package of RIT dye in each time.

Here’s a couple of guides that might help you out (1st replies on both threads):

They use different methods, but both should work. I think you might be using too little dye and possibly water. According to the two above guides, the water/acetone ratio should be higher.

On the second link how much acetone and water should you put in it?

Use a dye darker than your yoyo color.

It uses a pretty vague amount. I don’t think it really needs to be too specific. A tub of water and a bottle of nail polish remover with acetone. I would probably go with the first link, though, since it uses less water and acetone, which can be easier to work with and slightly more inexpensive.

Navy blue is indeed darker than red.
