The part at the end of the video about lubrication and viscous drag in low load bearing applications is interesting.
As far as splitting races, It seems like only the âfour point contactâ bearings mentioned (two piece inner race) would potentially work, though he doesnât determine whether they can be preloaded.
Even if they could, it would require setting that preload appropriately, presumably by screwing together the yo-yo halves just enough to reduce vibe without causing binding.
That would require very precise post-bearing interfaces. It might even require a fit with enough additional slip to cause vibe on its own.
You could use two half spec bearings and shim the outer races to accomplish this in a yoyo. I donât think there would be much benefit though.
