Carb Cleaner

Has anyone ever used Carburetor cleaner to clean a yo-yo bearing?

We used it all the time when I was a mechanic. I know it would eat through the o-rings an stuff, but it sprays on and dries really fast, so it seems like a couple minutes of drying would get it off the bearing and you would be ready to throw it in your yo-yo.

The fast evaporating solvents tend to leave a residue on the bearing.

[quote=Frank Difeyo Tech Tips]There are other solvents that can be used to clean bearings but… some solvents evaporate too fast and leave dry residue in the bearing that cause the bearing not to spin freely after cleaning. It may spin free at first but, can become responsive and possibly lock up!

Thanks, good to know.
