bearing cleaning

Thats weird. If I had to guess I’d say either
A: there if foreign debris in the bearing
B: there is solvent residue in the bearing
or C: the yoyo string is sliding down the side of the bearing and pops back out when you open it to oil it.
It didn’t get wet at ant point, did it?

I don’t know about A or B but I know it’s not C.
I tried just throwing it down hard and letting it spin out like JM said to do.
It gets non responsive after about 5 throws and after I play with it for a while it eventually becomes responsive again. I think it is just the bearing breaking in process and it is not a big problem.

If you have any comments or questions about this post you can post them otherwise I’ll just play with it for a while and if I have any problems I will post them.

Thanks again,
czyoyo

Bearings dont go unresponsove to responsive when breaking in. When you spin it does it make a sort of clicking sound?

It doesn’t really click it is just a little loud and a little rough.

Yea, something is probably in the bearing or bearing seat, check the bearing seat and clean the bearing.

This may sound silly but what part of the yoyo is the bearing seat? ???

is it like the spacer???

A bearing seat is where the bearing of the yoyo sits during play.

In this picture, it is surrounded by the K-Pads (white circle thingy) and it sorrouds the axle.

NP ;D

NP? ???

NP = No Problem

Ok ;D

I have played with it nonresponsive all day and now it just became responsive… ???

???
can you post a pic of the bearing seat?

the bearing sticks to the side without the axle. Which side do you want to see?

the bearing spins good now it just became responsive…

Make sure there is no oil on the string, or on inside walls of the yoyo.
try to make sure that the string is in the middle of the bearing and not rubbing against the walls of the yoyo.
If all else fails fails Try widening the gap a little if you can.
What kind of response system do you have in it anyway?

YYF MVP Stats:
Diameter: 56.40 mm / 2.20 inches
Width: 40.15 mm / 1.58 inches
Response System: Large Skinny K-Pad
Weight: 67 grams
Bearing Size: Center Trac Bearing by Central Bearing Company

because of the center trac bearing I don’t think that the string is rubbing.
And I just cleaned it today so I don’t think there is any oil in the bearing other than the small amount I put in with a needle. I touched about two balls with oil on the needle… But, After a day of yoing it became responsive the bearing seat does not look odd or anything it just looks like the yoyoexpert shop pic of it only red. ;D

the gap cannot be widened on the MVP.

new string makes no difference…
