16.What Do I Do When The Bearing Spacers Are Stuck To The Side Of My Bearing?
Here’s a link to take out yyf spacers:
Added. anything else?
Well guy’s should I just let this thread die? Or do you think I should find more stuff to add?
Or you could just sticky the thread then its up forever.
I thought Mod’s were the only ones that could do that.
they are.
oh nvm me then.
Yea thats what I thought.
I read the first post. I’m new to the forum and I am a starting out yoyo-er. To start off, I’m using Yomega’s BX2 from their Yomods line. I already opened the package when I read that it’s for “intermediate” players…I’m definitely a beginner. I got it because a) I like the color, b) the plastic looks nice, c) not very expensive, d) it’s plastic. I prefer plastic because I know I’ll end up fudging it up and I just couldn’t do that to a metal yoyo. Had I known it was not for beginners, I’d have gotten the something responsive.
Anyway, here are my questions…
-
When should I change strings? Last I checked, the end of my string (the one around the bearing/axle) are becoming fibrous and thinning. They’re not smooth anymore. Isn’t that sign that the threads making the string are ripping? I’ve only had this yo-yo for a week.
-
Any suggestions softer, skinnier strings? The ones at the place I bought my yoyo from only have regular strings. They’re a bit too tough for my hands/fingers.
-
My yo-yo has gotten unresponsive over time and it’s gotten louder. Will cleaning + lubing help with reducing noise? I presume it would.
-
How do I open my ball bearing? I do not see the balls like the ones in your bearing.
-
(not relevant) Are the finger wraps effective for reducing pain from constricting and friction? Are there gloves that help pad palm just below where the index finger?
Question 1
If there are signs of fraying around the bearing then yes that is a sign the string needs to be changed.
Question 2
Choosing a good kind of string is all preference really but if your looking for softer skinnier string here’s a few that come to mind.
YYSL(yoyo string lab) venom is very soft and it lasts a really long time. and if I remember corectly (I haven’t used one in awhile) its on the skinnier side.
Another one that comes to mind is Kitty string. I really like there nylon string its very soft. And if your looking for skinnier string do not get the (Fat) type string because that is thicker.
Question 3
Yes cleaning and lubeing the bearing will make it more quite. If you want the yoyo to play responsive pick up some thick lube. and follow the steps as shown in the OP (Original post).
Question 4
If you look closely at the side of your bearing you will see a little lip at the very edge. If you turn the bearing in a full 360 you will see a deeper recess at some point under that lip. That is called a “C” clip thats waht holds the bearing shield on. What you need to do is put a safety pin (Or any other pointy thing) in to that reccess and try to pry the clip loose.
Heres a vid I found on how to do that.
Question 5
Yes the more wraps of string you have around your finger the more evenly the pressure is distrubuted.
Hope this helped.
If you don’t mind I’ll add some of these questions to the OP
Thank you very much! I’m gonna get some supplies tonight lol.
Yes, it’s cool for you to use these questions.
No problem.
Have fun.
19 Coming soon…
What do you want question 19 to be?
These are sort of lame questions but I am putting suggestions out.
How do I become good at yoyoing?
What is the hardest/best trick?
What is the best yoyo company?
I’ll think about these and get them posted.
In order…
- It’s a little known secret: Practice.
- It’s a matter of opinion.
- same as above.
Yea thats pretty much what I’m gonna say when I type them up.
