5A May 2025

Throw-Yo Gummy Counterweight Giveaway

OK, 5a folks. Let’s keep this straightforward. Post a video of yourself doing a 5a Trick for an entry to win a Throw-Yo Gummy Counterweight of your choice (Skull, Brain, 5aven, Big Shroom, or Flat Hex), along with a single Throw-Yo string of your choice. You can post up to 3 tricks to get 3 max entries.

The trick has to be posted from this point forward. Past tricks in this thread do not count. I’ll tally everything up and pick a winner at the end of May!

Oh yea I meant rebounds with the counterweight. My redirects could also use some work though.

I am envious of your 5a skill!

Thanks, I still feel fairly humble about it because I feel like I’m not very good at a couple of types of 5a moves yet. But at the same time I also realise I don’t really fall under the “beginner” moniker anymore.

Any of yall do this with the bead so you don’t have to thread it on to the new string every time? Green is the old one and I just loop it thru and pull the new string into the bead.

I just make the holes on the beads bigger so it takes no effort to run a string through by hand. Bead hole sizes can be made a fair bit bigger without needing to worry about the knot slipping through.

No reason for bead holes to be that small other than they aren’t made for yoyos and yoyo companies aren’t gonna mess with drilling holes on beads.

Modified on the left, unmodified on the right. Takes about 10 seconds to do and threading beads by hand becomes zero effort forever.

Smart trick for the beads!

That’s an excellent permanent fix! I gotta get a small enough drill bit.

Not gonna lie…have not thrown any 5a this May. I’m still stuck in Fixed Axle February. Wonder what fixie I should try with a counterweight.
