The Trekker

The Trekker is the newest throw we are adding to our slim line family. This project took a while to be completed as we went back and forth with different approaches and multiple prototypes. This project took a couple of years from initial prototyping to launch date.

Features and specs:

Diameter: 58.1 mm
Width: 23.3 mm
Gap: 2.3 mm
Weight: 49.9 g
Bearing size: D
Bearing type: can hold slim and full spec.
Responsive system: 24 OD x 13 ID
Feature: Threaded hubs
Material: 7075 aluminum

This time we wanted to bring a larger diameter and more pocketable slim throw with a lighter weight. With the use of 7075 aluminum we achieved having thin walls in certain areas and push out more weight towards the outer diameter to compensate the thin width and cap seat of the Trekker.

Like El MiJo, the Trekker has a hub-system, but now the hubs themselves are completely removable and replaceable. The bearing remains sitting on the body of the throw as most of the throws.

Early prototypes measured 55.1 mm diameter, clocked in at 55 g, and stretched to 29 mm wide. Our mission was to get smaller and lighter without sacrificing playability. In the final build, the Trekker grew 3 mm in diameter, shed 5 g in weight, slimmed down 6 mm in width, and gained a fully rounded profile that fits perfectly in your hand. The ultra-fine blasted finish feels incredible under the hands.

Inside, inverted walls taper from a narrow 2.3 mm at the gap out to 5.9 mm at the catch zone, making tricky binds a breeze and landings more forgiving.

** side by side comparison with the Janus **

This throw is designed to play with fixed (blank) and responsive bearing with the capability to play with unresponsive bearing if you want to. The Trekker is a light-carry, all-day companion built to spark creativity and elevate your tricks.

Is this d bearing side effects?
On closer reading is not, since the bearing sits on the body.
Whats the purpose of the hubs then?

Maybe just aesthetic, interchanging colors.

Edit - Just a guess

Welp take my money

@Upmanyu no these are not SE’s. They are just threaded hubs/caps like the ones we used in Alebrije throw. These ones are now more aesthetic and capable to interchange colours, as @Adrielecc mentioned.

Are you gonna sell those threaded hubs separately? I kinda want some extras for 3d printing weird stuff.

Do these ship with blank or responsive bearing? Where are these being sold- your site says 7/24.

ZGRT.ca is their company homepage, which is where they should be releasing, on the 24th

Edit to say: the Janus dropped at 7:30 PM eastern on its release day

Here is another colourway to be released this Thursday. Two more colourways to come.

How wide is the blank? And by slim do you mean a 4mm wide MR115 or a 3mm wide 685 bearing?

In any case, I’m super stoked about this release, they look absolutely fantastic. Can’t wait to see the other colorways, but it’s gonna be hard to top the purple fade for me personally.

Thanks. Yes, the D (685 bearing) blank is 3 mm wide.

A classic solid clear colourway was a must.
