Yoyo Appraisal Thread III

Did they ever release them in standard boxes? If memory is correct this is what it came in but I will admit my memory is not what it used to be.

No they only came in 7Summit boxes.

Damn. Thats what i get for keeping the yoys in cases and the boxes in storage bins. I have moved three times since I purchased this yo yo. It may have been lost. :frowning:

Any idea on value as it sits?

Do you remember who you purchased this from? I’m concerned about the authenticity. I think both 7 Summits and the regular Summits came in white boxes, but maybe I’m wrong.

If it’s good, then I’d say $250 - $350.

I’d say anywhere between $140 to $220. I wouldn’t take less than $140.

Chief $300 - $400

Bassalope $175 - $250

BvM $150 - $200

BvM 2 $125 - $200

Galactic Goose is really tough. MIB would likely go for a lot. I’d say $200 - $300, but I could be off.

Next to its family it’s pretty easy to see its real.

yeah that’s 100% a real seven summit, the splash is accurate + the engravings have the slight imperfections you’d expect with age, you could weigh it as well if you want a definitive answer

additionally i’ve never seen a fake everest, i know the vinsons and elbrus ones definitely have fakes out there though

That’s crazy. I know I have been out of this for a wile but we never had to worry abt that in the past. Crazy world we live in.

Got started digging through the collection because I wanted to get the last parts I had in cardboard into cases. Still did not have enough even after adding the G2 cases

Yeah I don’t doubt you. I just haven’t seen a box like that. Now I’m incredibly interested in which Summits came in a brown box.

Here’s my Everest w/ box next to a standard summit box.

i wanna say the first couple of batches came with the brown boxes and after a while they switched to white.

Man i guess these 7 summits colors fade after a while or even some of the regular ones did as well i wonder how and why

Wow you got some got some great throws there, I hope you slowly sell so I can somehow snag a few.

My nickel has a white box. I can’t confirm its original because I bought it secondhand. My mischief came directly from Ernest and also has a white box. Wish we had the blog still. Lots of good reference photos there.

the blog is archived some people still have the link i just forget it if you are referring to the old caribou one

This sounds correct. The oldest One Drop yo-yos came in those brown boxes, and at some point they used the white ones somewhat briefly before changing to the modern ones. And around 2020 they switched from a ā€˜Made in Eugene’ sticker to it actually being printed on the box.

Bleaching from ultraviolet light most likely?

yeah 7075 ano fades over time, well known issue

hmmm, i have a 7075 hulk smash chief and it’s completely fine maybe that’s cuz previous owners have stored them in the dark which i have also done with my cases just to preserve the ano incase things like this happen. I also wonder if it’s also how the yo-yo was anodized and how it was applied

Forgot one.

I only have the three boxes though. The brown box is the exact same box that my wolly Markmont came in so I am guessing there was a time early on where they used the brown. I am not sure if it’s the fact that 7075 fades or if it’s just not as deep an anodized. I have a bunch of newer G2 stuff and the 7075 is not quite as bright. Idk. Anyway. I have way too many yo-yos.

Pretty sure most colourants will fade in the sun. And it often varies a lot from one yo-yo to the next.

Depends on the buyer. The last few (including the one I picked up have sold between $100 and $140.
