What did you get in the mail today? 2021

Tracked down a TopYo Top Steel (or TS or Steel). Thanks to @sloegoe for mentioning it as the best ever a few times which got it on my radar as another steel throw to check out. Feels very nice after a few run-throughs at work. I’ll enjoy getting familiar over the long weekend.

Christmas gifts arrived a little late, but they’re awesome. They both have a lot of presence on the string.

So what do you feel are the benefits of the white rubber caps on the hubs of that blue one?

Nice. That node is great I have a similar one. What’s the other one?

I got my final 2021 mailday yesterday.

Thank you Santa and thank you YoyoExpert!

Benefits I think are definitely just that the blue makes less noise without the hubstacks and that its a little lighter, but if you prefer a heavier throw then that could be a negative.

Oh, sorry, I meant what are the benefits of having the rubber cap versus a bare hub (no stacks and no rubber cover)?

Nothing performance wise, purely aesthetics. That is from my experience at least. Almost felt like it was a necessity to put them on when playing without hubstacks, but that was just a mental thing in my end.

When I got the Batsquatch 7068, I remember saying it was nice to finally have more organic bi-metals. Now, a little over a year later, we have so many more.

And the Stormberry is a fantastic example of them. I need to play with it more, but so far I’m really impressed with it. Still light on the string, doesn’t feel overbearing, but very powerful with excellent spin time.

ETA: any oddities in the finish showing up in the picture are because of my poor photography skills, the finish in person is flawless.
