What did you get in the mail today? 2021

Little late for Christmas but probably the most stoked I’ve been for a mailday this year. Felt very fortunate to snag one

This is my first yoyo with a response groove (schmoove groove?)

Got this beautiful Anglam. It is an older version, has a touch of vibe and has some love marks.

Can anyone possibly help me out with a couple questions on it?

What version is this?

This model came out when they stopped using titanium rings and did not specify what the new rings are made from. Anyone know what the rings are made out of?

is the first version of the CC came out in 2013 … I think it is in 6061 aluminum with rings in 7075 (see also the grandeur of the circle, I don’t think it can be anything else; in the next version, the ring which is made of steel is much smaller) … at the time this thing “went out of fashion” for a while, the Berserker of the C3 I think was the first to to be done this way … I found it quite useless, given the very few differences in specific gravity between the two alloys and the potential problems of a yoyo built in several parts joined together to have interference.
p.s. its selling price was absurd … like that of most Something, for that matter.

Much appreciation for the breakdown. Took the info you gave and found an MSRP of $220. Quite insane pricing. Giving it a few throws, it’s not a bad throw by any means, but I’d be pissed off if I paid $220 for it.

exactly what I mean … they are yoyos that play very well but at the time they also played very well yoyos which cost a third of that price (even a quarter :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:), always made with the same aluminum and in the same place (China)

After (almost) 5 months of waiting, finally: The Star Trail!

First impression is the weight distribution is indeed very similar to the Draupnir. But the ST seems to be more controllable (with the trade off of some speed). It’s comfortable in hand, with no sharp edges.

My only complain might be the response system. Most times I felt it’s a bit snaggy but sometimes it felt slippy… Not very consistent for me. Maybe it just need some break-in, or maybe I played too much Duall and got picky.

Overall I’m impressed. Worth the wait!

Update: After a few days I decided to put on a NSK DS bearing and see if it changes anything. And the result was amazing. The extra 0.1g balanced out the heavy rim weight and made the yoyo feel more powerful when I threw it down. The yoyo became smoother and felt a bit more nimble. And the DS shape fixed all the bind issues… I am in love now

Didn’t post this sooner because I forgot to take photos earlier, but I got the CLYW Borealis for Christmas. This is easily my most powerful monometal, the body is super thin and the rims are crazy fat in comparison. Spins forever, and is very stable on plane. It also happens to be the smoothest yoyo I own. Really happy with this one, they even hooked it up with a ton of pins.

Probably should have waited to post, but I just got my MK1 x Spinworthy RBC in, and holy ■■■■ the hype is beyond real. I know its still honeymoon period, but this might have overtaken my Day Tripper as my favorite yoyo in my collection. Everything just feels right, even down to how it feels to hold between throws. The weight, the response, the sound, the gap, all feel basically perfect. I’m probably going to snag a second one just to keep in my pocket permanently.

It is similar to a Schmoove groove used in bearing yo-yos which are intended to reduce wall friction - it may some what do that in the fixies too. But it is my understanding that the grooves on the new TMBR models are intended to lock in the string wraps which helps keep the loop secured during stalls and flips.

Had an awesome mail day two days ago:

I didn’t expect the RBC to play so much like the wood, wow. This is a fine yoyo.

The dEhcade is also pretty amazing, but I gotta break it in a bit more

This one almost didn’t happen. I got a notification that it was delivered but it was NOT. I opened a case. Turns out FedEx delivered to the wrong address. My husband also went driving around based on the info we were given by the gal handling the case and we managed to locate my package and it was thankfully unopened! This is my first CLYW throw and I’m in love. Also, if I don’t stop buying yoyos soon my husband might kill me. I still have a FH1 and a Stormberry on the way LOL.
