A really cool guy on Facebook was selling some YoYoFactory Californias with custom etchings and wooden caps.
I can’t believe they didn’t sell out immediately for him. Lucky for me he still had a green
He gave me an insanely good deal…but then he went way out of his way to hook me the heck up! Wow!
I love the box they got shipped in haha…it’s a keeper!
He also included the original hand drawn art…as well as a hand drawn/hand painted rough draft of another etching he was doing for these Californias.
Such a cool looking yo! It all fits so well! It’s green like a tree…has wooden pogs/caps…I live under some mountains with lots and lots of pine trees around.
So cool!
The anodized black portion of the throw on the left looks both too light and inconsistent. Even for a finish that looks good, the tint or hue may be incorrect. Or hidden issues that may not affect play (bearing post out of spec whether too tight or too loose) Hard to say how an individual sample didn’t meet the intended specifications, without knowing the intended specifications.
In my opinion, at a certain point, B-grades have become a pretext to sell their yoyos more easily, perhaps starting from slightly inflated list prices and thus giving the illusion of great savings.
YYF was certainly not the only brand to have this “approach” … the same I can tell you about my two Sengoku for example…
Whoa! Did they drop the price on this? They’re in stock for $125…I think they were $150+ the last time I checked them several months ago. Or am I mistaken?
Yeah!!! Finally home, got the Code 1 and ordered some spike side effects. I think this is the first time I have a received a Yo-Yo on National Yo-Yo day.
I want to know this too. I know that small weight changes can make a big difference, but I have a hard time believing that the ti would make a difference with such a tiny axle.

So they took out the v8 and inserted a 4 banger??? Did I hear you right? Too bad I thought that was a really Bad design. (And by Bad I mean good. Just in case you know. Can’t be too careful)
A weight change that small at the dead center of the yoyo makes virtually no difference… Like 0.1% change small, especially on what I assume is a pretty short axle anyway.
Ti axles were popular for like the fhz to cut weight because it’s such a massive bolt but with modern yoyos, meh no benefit really.
