Practicing 4A with the POM Amulette and Kamui Light. I prefer the shape of the Amulette but the weight of the Kamui Light, I kinda wish I had gotten the PC version of the Amulette instead lol. Really loving both of these though.
What’s the raw one?
ILYY St.Eel
What do you like about it?
This is such an underrated throw
The weight feels sooo perfect. Not heavy, not too light. It feels awesome going through tricks. Not too big, not too small. Extremely comfortable in my hand and with catches. Great binds. I love it. This is my own experience though.
How does the Daizzy-Yo play? Does it feel like a Cold Fusion?
I love that jeweled Duncan!!!
nice. All of it.
I still can’t set mine down. It’s definitely in my daily rotation. It’s so good that I’m going to find a second one as backup just in case.
Thanks, it’s a great player… So much fun!! I can throw it for hours!! I threw so many “over the falls” the string broke, …
Admittedly, I’ve never played a Cold Fusion…so I can’t say how they compare :,(
That’s one of the coolest things about the Daizzy-yo to me though, it’s one of the “missing links” between my old Spintastics Terminator Tornado and the modern unresponsive I’ve grown to love over the past year+
As far as play, it is heavy, but in a good way…almost has that dense feeling of some older organic shapes. Of course with the high walls, it is very easy to tilt. Reminds me of the OD Panorama in that regard (in a good way, as the larger diameter really lends itself to longer spin time and stability as long as you maintain your plane).
Spin time is good, the centering ball bearing seems to be in good shape, but string layering with the cork response pads is not conducive, although I’m still able to accomplish some string layering (just not a lot).
The response is not snappy, not sure if that is due to the age of the cork or the design itself. As you can see from the pictures in my original post, the cork pads appear to be in amazing condition, especially considering their age.
My only gripe is that the Daizzy-yo loves to eat string! It may be my sloppy play, but I had to disassemble a few times to remove the string loop from the axle and get it back onto the bearing. I presume this is just an inherent issue with having the bearing directly on the threaded axle with no bearing seat.
The finish is beyond amazing, the powder coating is devine. We need more powder coating!
All in all, the Daizzy-yo really is a yoyo to behold and a joy to throw. Apart from the cork response and lack of bearing seat, it’s difficult to believe this yoyo is almost 20 years old! I would love to get my hands on one of the orange variants from this run to compare. According to the wiki, the orange edition had more modern response pads in place of the cork.
Cheers!
