Price depends largely on the model. Some of the more popular throws (like the Sleipnir) and throws that were discontinued after smaller runs (I’m thinking Acrophobia) will command a higher premium.

I’ve seen A- grades on the bst for around 60-70 a piece which are great prices. Generally te undersized YYR go for lower than the fullsized models. Most YYR go for around $80-$100 on the bst and for a few more limited models they can be pricier resale value.

Most YYR stay where they land. The recent exception was the dearth of YYR models flooding the market at the end of last year that brought prices down. My take on it is that these “extra” yo-yo’s have probably found a home and will not be readily offered for sale. I would put an ad on BST “Want to buy YYR XXXX”; or something like that. That will pry them loose for the right price.
My advice: Get a Draupnir.

Both actually, Chase Baxter has some nice ones on facebook though.

Maybe YYE has information from yyr that says so. But I still can’t see how a higher grade of aluminum would make that big of a difference.

Maybe the rest of the throw is made of 6061 and something was lost in translation?

Laser is for sale here at YYE; not for $500 though.
In regards to “different grades of 7075”; while there are only hardness grades for variations on 7075, there are other alloys in the 7000 series; each with its own density:
Aluminium 7075 density = 2800 kg/m3
Aluminium 7079 2740
Aluminium 7178 2830
With designs such as the Laser, the important point is not the density itself. Rather, it is the contrast between different densities that gives the qualities sought after.
Outer shell = 7075; inner-cup = 7178? or something like that…

He’s just saying that the $500 throw wasn’t the Laser, it was the Dazzler.

Anyone know why they discontinued the Acrophobia? I thought it was sucha unqiue throw, I thoroughly enjoyed throwing one.

Correct. I just meant the $500 yoyo he was thinking of was the Dazzler, not the Laser.

I’m not sure why it didn’t see more production. There seemed to be a decent amount of A- and B grades, although they all play great to me, so maybe it was tough to machine with the thin lip or something. The demand was huge so surely they would have made more if there wasn’t something else going on.
