Sorry to hear you had a bad experience with your B-grade Shutas. Severe vibe is a definite gripe if they were only supposed to have ano flaws, but the flat bearing shouldn’t be too surprising for a B-grade product. I suspect that even if you represent them honestly on the BST you won’t lose too much on them.

To give you an idea, my girlfriend (who knows nothing about yoyos whatsoever) asked me why it looked so weird spinning and that “awful noise” was coming from it. “It shouldn’t do that, right? I thought they were supposed to be cosmetic issues only.”
And this is coming from the person I convinced that the $50 donation was an awesome idea. Both my reputability and collection have suffered from this. That’s the last I should say on the subject. Spent a good chunk of the night meditating myself out that angry place, don’t want to get back to it. Just wanted everyone to be aware what costs were incurred in order to bring their Ti throws to their doors.

Two metal yo-yos, 7075, even with vibe, flat bearings and ano flaws, is still a very good deal to me. When you have issues with a product you purchased, it is a good idea to contact the seller directly, if you’d like it resolved.

Also got the two Shu-Ta’s both are smooth enough and with flats. No complaints here for $50
And the Hubstack Genesis. Might throw on the red dice for this one.
Pretty darn happy for $100. And in hindsight, probably threw too much money at Ben for this project, but more than happy to do so.
I am a bit envious on the VK tho. :o

I doubt they’ll have more of the “Do you trust Ben” packs but then they might have a lower priced tier towards the end of the indiegogo.
It might be a bunch of B-grades, that in my opinion are worth more than they usually cost but then vibe doesn’t bother me all that much, if at all really. 🙂
Oh and thanks DVC. 😃 Now I have no more yoyo funds. Until something else amazing comes along of course.

If continuing to refine the yoyo to get it performing perfectly means trying it out at the lower weight, ALSO, I’m still for that. You get a proto that happens to be heavier than expected, but still plays great. AWESOME, because you are starting off on the right foot. But you don’t go, “Well, this plays great, so I’m stopping here.” Obviously Ben agrees, as he has continued refining the design to get it lighter.
Some people just prefer heavier yoyos and of course aren’t going to mind if it’s up a gram or two. They might hope that everything stops so they can get a weight in their own preference zone. But that’s not really true to the design goal. If Ben designed it to be shy of 66g, he had a reason for that. And those of us who prefer light, and saw that the projected yoyo was going to be light, definitely want to at least hear what it’s like at 66g or below. That’s not blind adherence to what was originally an estimate (not a concrete number), it’s wanting to see the original design goals met… i
But if the consensus is “Oh god, it’s just not nearly as good as that 67g one,” then I’m not too proud to accept it. A great-playing yoyo is what I’m after. I will have my “light yoyo needs” met with the ringless 2014 Genesis!
Particularly knowing that Ben himself likes things on the lighter side, I know he and the other testers will arrive at a conclusion I can be happy with.

I’m sure that Ben will stop when the yo-yo is the best possible yo-yo. I trust him to do that, no matter what the specific end weight. Instead of people calling out specific weights, all that matters is that the yo-yo plays great given the design.
Ben already said there were more prototypes coming, so I’m sure they will test them, and draw the best conclusion. Sticking to the initial projected weight makes no sense, if it’s not what makes the yo-yo the best. But, if that’s what seems to work best, I wouldn’t be disappointed either. I buy a ton of YoyoFactory, one reason why, is that their stuff doesn’t play flimsy. I already offered on that 67g prototype.
If the yo-yo is better with another gram of weight, let’s do it!
