Hey all! So my juggling inner child has been very spoiled my entire life, and it’s been awesome. He grew up among fire spinners and breathers, circus bases in training, and Cirque Du Soleil. There was always a huge emphasis on performance, dance, and the way the rest of your body moved while you performed your art. I generally find yoyo performances to be totally lacking in these things. It’s all someone standing mostly still banging out amazing tricks. Or stepping their legs over the yo-yo or string because that’s what the trick calls for. Most of the juggling arts performances I’ve seen have been riddled with emotion, and dance on top of whatever art they’re doing. I’m wondering if anyone out there can point me to some videos that include dancing or body movements with the yo-yoing. I’ve watched a few of the AP division videos, and those are all great. But I see them more as doing tricks with a storyline or emotional performance overlaying the yo-yo tricks. I don’t really see them dancing with the yo-yo. Lol. While that video is very well done comedy, I don’t think I’d call it dancing, and it’s still not what I’m looking for. Are there any videos with good dancing in them? =P ---

Steve Brown and Tommy Gunn were probably two of the funnieston stage personas from back then when at big contests like this. i commend those guys for not just stepping out of the mold but smashing that mold to pieces! ---

That is an interesting perspective. Personally, I find the extra movement to be a distraction from what I want to see. I usually skip over the videos where people are ‘dancing’ around. A portion of my youth was also around performers (musicians specifically) and I got so sick of the fake smiles and emotions that were expected. Imagine if NBA players were expected to glue plastic smiles on their faces. LOL. To me its the same thing. I usually only smile when I yoyo if the yoyo hits me, or I almost get hit. Different strokes for different folks.
