I gotta get the Flying Lemon out and into people’s hands first.

The only thing I dislike about MR85 is how limiting the narrow width is, which is why I’ve moved towards MR105 (A) for a lot of my 3D printed yoyo designs. Hard to judge scale from a screenshot with no dims/specs, but that appears to be an extra wide MR85. I’m curious about the wider version you used for the flying lemon (and ostensibly the one pictured here), and wondering if there’s any chance that bearing will become more widely available?

Yes, a standard MR85 would be way too narrow for unresponsive play. This design uses a 4mm wide version of the MR85.

I had to have those made for me. The only way it would become more widely available is if other companies use them in their designs and had some produced too.

Yes, the Flying Lemon uses this bearing.

Here it is on top of a C bearing.

If there are any concerns about the longevity of such a small bearing, i have been throwing my lemon solidly for 6 months and there have been zero issues so far.

Something you might be interested in. It’s a small sacrifice in diameter going from 8 mm wide to 9 mm wide but 684 bearings are 4 mm ID 9 mm OD and come in both 2.5 mm width and 4 mm width. Makes them narrower and a little more flexible that A bearings.

I am kicking around early designs for a convertible that uses both widths so you can go responsive and unresponsive.

I had a 20-pack of the 4mm wide 684 delivered last week, but haven’t had a chance to design and print something to use them yet. Didn’t realize there was a 2.5mm narrow option too, good to know!

But wouldn’t Mr. 105 be weaker than Mr. 85?(This is a joke. Please ignore me).

Best free CAD softwares would probably be Fusion 360, FreeCAD, or Onshape.

Agreed! A lot of people really like OpenSCAD too, which is syntax based. Personally, of the free options I prefer Fusion 360.

Mini design I’ve been working on (49x45mm, D bearing)

 ![image](https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/flex015/uploads/yoyoexpert1/original/4X/4/4/f/44ff830cb3b97065ed9a0994f26651109b615494.png)

Mega design (62x62)

Really hard to do any aesthetic work at this size. the entire mass ends up being used to get the material out there.

With the wide boi you can always go heavier to get the moi that you’re looking for since it’s proportional to the diameter and width.
