What do you mean by this? I’m not quite sure I understand. If you give more info I might be able to help but @MarkD or many other people can probably give better info than I can.

on the 19mm silicone pad groove part of the yoyo (mold actually) do i need a precise tolerance, or can i get away with general tolerance? because i’m not even sure if my design would fil the pad nicely

Which pads are you planning to use, and what are the diameters and depth of the face groove?

plan to use standard 19mm pads, with ±1mm thickness, my groove depth is 1.1mm, in the drawing i put ID 14,003mm and OD 19,103mm

In theory all the yo-yo should be a tight tolerance although I believe most Chinese factories use a tolerance of .0006” for the general yoyo and .0004” for the bearing seat. Those dimensions for OD and ID look mostly fine I personally use an OD if 19.2mm and an ID of 14mm. I think the response pad depth might be a little shallow. I usually go 1.2-1.3mm.

There was another thread where someone wanted to make a Tungsten yoyo that was 2.4kgs:

> [@I need help to build a 2.4 kilograms yoyo](https://forums.yoyoexpert.com/t/i-need-help-to-build-a-2-4-kilograms-yoyo/421250):

> Hy guys, I am a big fan of yo-yos and bladed weapons. I have a project to make a tungsten alloy yo-yo weighing about 2.4 kilos. I already have the possibility of having the materials, industrial 3D design and the industrial cutting. The problem is that I have no idea what type of yo-yo to choose. I would like a type of yoyo with a large volume of material so that I can increase the weight to the maximum. The ideal size of the yoyo would be 65mm in diameter by 45mm in width. (I can’t do mor…

I made one:

Turns out it’s really hard to fit that much weight into a yoyo sized object.

Specs:
Width: 61.5mm
Diameter: 61.5mm
Weight: 2.4kg
Bearing: Size C
Pads: “Standard” 19mm
Axle: 14mm
MMOI(Half): 495861

The string is gonna be interesting to source. Sounds super fun to play around with on the machine, though I’d have to set up specific tooling to cut the guts XD

I tried learning CAD about a year ago and gave up. I’m back to try again. I want to follow along with Marks tutorials on YouTube but can’t seem to get both add ons that he refers to in the start of the video for FreeCAD 1.0

Try using Fusion360 or Onshape if you can’t get FreeCAD to work.

The amount of mostly-fleshed out yoyo design ideas that have been flowing out of my head this past week is insane. It’s driving me crazy that I don’t have time to pursue bringing those to life right now, but just y’all wait a few months. I’m about to explode from the excitement.

I feel that. I’m always sitting on at least 2x the ideas I have 3d printers for and 3x the ideas I have time to finish designing.

Writing them down as fast as I can for now. When I have time, I want to really dig into how to do things right. I think at least a few of the designs are going to be really awesome, and I hope others will enjoy them too.

I also need to invest in a 3D printer at some point so I can produce some designs myself (though having that ability could will be dangerous for my wallet).
