For 2D cross section design I use the good ol autocad software for both PC and App for on the go edits But for 3D rendering I exclusively use [Enscape 3D](https://enscape3d.com/) to make a close to realistic model for visualization like this [yoyo](https://p44yoyocompany.wordpress.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/gsx.gif) for example ---

Working on a revised model today. Dropped the OD from 56mm to 54mm, kept the same width of 45mm. Reduced the response pad size to from 21mm (Snow Tires) to 19mm (Standard Slim), removed the weighted section in the cup side and shifted geometry around for a more bowl shape cup and added a mild radius on the top of the catch zone vs the flat taper on my original. Slightly wider gap from 4.32mm to 4.50mm. Deepened the bearing clearance for less weight in the center even though there was plenty of clearance before. Seems like an easy spot to trim some fat. Finished this one up late last night and have been playing with it all day today. Overall came out nice. Makes it a lot easier to mess with stuff like this for sure. I ran my shop full time for years and go back and forth between this and full time work at other shops. My primary machine is a 2021 Haas VF-2YT CNC Mill. Not ideal for making yo-yos, but it works well. Cycle time is longer than if I made them on a lathe so I dug out my little Sherline CNC lathe and got it all cleaned up recently. Going to move some of the finish turning to the Sherline so I can mill the critical details in blanks on the mill, and rough the shapes fast then skim cut the cup and catch zone for concentricity all locating off the bearing seat.
