My first yoyo was a Butterfly XT from target. When it slept I couldn’t get it to come back up, so I tied the string in a knot around the bearing :joy:. I didn’t get far with it, but eventually decided to do real tricks with a First Base. I treated it horribly, lost the bearing, and am somehow missing a bearing seat. I’m glad I know more about yo-yos now lol.

I did also try to offstring with an Iyoyo Airdive before I could 1A because I saw a Ben Conde / Veritasium video and it looked super cool to me,
I dont offstring anymore 🤣 too much chasing noisy dropped plastic round the room

I had the green one of those. Glad to see somebody else had a McDonald’s yomega as their first yoyo.
I didn’t really get into the yoyo though until I was an adult and a friend bought me a yotricks Sage so I’d shut up about saying how yoyo seemed really cool, but not wanting to spend an entire 15 dollars on a yoyo. How things have changed since then…

Sometimes I think about buying the orange brain on ebay but I still struggle spending $15 on a yo-yo, Even though I’ve definitely spent more :joy:

My first yo-yo with a bearing was Henry’s Viper. It barely slept so I ordered an OG Dark Magic after that and I would consider that my first actual yo-yo. Sadly I broke it by over tightening many years ago. But it lasted me many years.

My first yo-yo was a transparent yellow Imperial in the mid 80s. (I think the one they sent up into space in 85 was solid yellow). Then I took a break from yo-yos for almost 40 years.
And then just last night I bought myself an old transparent yellow Imperial on eBay. Full circle!
_Sidenote: Does anyone know of a resource that has every Duncan stamp through the years? I’d love to see the progression in branding. Would really help with identifying years too._

A green Duncan butterfly I liberated from an open locker on an away wrestling meet in high school (I was a naughty kid). Followed shortly after by a pink imperial that I actually purchased .

A spintastics terminator torch yoyo. Learned all my basics on that. A classmate introduced me to modern unresponsive back in 2008 and I got a lynn fury and OG Dark Magic. The rest is history after purchasing my first metal in 2013, a Chico Yoyo Co. Manimal.

very first yoyo was a green imperial, dont remember too much about it. had a few brains, one of the mcdonalds brains too lol. first yoyo i really remember loving was a duncan bumble bee, had that for a long time but never did anything too crazy with it.

5$ Duncan butterfly xt from a big box store was the gateway. Thought the echo 2 was like a big butterfly and decided to upgrade (didn’t understand what response was) I think of the echo 2 as kind of like my first because unresponsive is so different. RIP echo2! I stripped it within like 3 weeks and superglued the axle in because I hadn’t yet found yye. Luckily, I figured out how to bind and was hooked on yo by then.

my truly first yoyo was a plastic Duncan imperial. The first yoyo that i really got into was my yomega raider. Salvaged that sucker when it got messed up.

So many, Duncan imperial, then butterfly, then got my hands on a yomega power brain, which was great, then a fast 207 which I never understood how to properly utilize, then a yomega hyper warp which got me till I stopped cuz I hit a plateau with 0A and couldn’t afford 1A at the time. Then picked it back up in September with a magic yo-yo v3 to see where id land with 1A. It was a great decision.

Random duncans as a kid, but the Sengoku Ashigaru was the first one I bought for myself. Lovely yoyo, I would immediately get another if anything happened to it. Especially because it has sentimental value for being my first unresponsive.
