Are the yo-yo players in competitions just doing combinations of commonly known tricks or are they for the most part just making up their own tricks? Just wondering… thanks.

They are doing their own, unique, creative tricks which they have spent hours creating, refining, and practicing.

This for the most part but there are also those that get lots of “inspiration” from other people’s freestyles and tricks.
