I’ve got one bearing I really like that I’d like to put in another throw, but when I do, it becomes responsive. Put it back in a different one and it’s not.

What’s weird is that the same bearing is responsive in a Crosscut, but unresponsive in a Shortcut.

Is there anything I can do? Am I doing something wrong? I don’t understand why this is happening and I’d like to understand.

ETA: This isn’t unique to the Crosscut, this is unique to this bearing in particular. Some yoyos it works fine in, and some it makes responsive.

The only case I can imagine is that the outer race’s size is just slim enough to not touch in the Shortcut but just big enough to touch others depending on their gap size/anodization thickness.

I may be incorrect as I’ve never experienced this myself but I know the tolerances are hard to keep perfect in those tiny little bearings.

Possibly, make sure you’re seating the bearing fully? I’ve had mine act responsive when it’s crooked.

Are the pads sticking out on the crosscut? Is the bearing seat extra tight?

Definitely a strange situation

The pads are new but not sticking out. The bearing in question does seem to be an oddball… it seems smaller than the others. It’s one of those Sochi full ceramics.

Kind of a bummer but it’s not the end of the world. Thanks for the responses, guys!
