# When do I lube a ball bearing?

You don’t really ever have to lube a bearing if you don’t want to. It’ll always play faster without the lube as well.

But, some people choose to lube in order to extend the life of the bearing. Another reason you might want to is if your bearing is noisy, or becomes noisy at some point. Lube will quiet it back down, but it will slow it down too for a while.

It’s really up to you. I don’t ever use lube because I like a fast bearing at all costs.
