i don’t actually believe anyone needs to have a collection to enjoy yo-yoing, but if i’m going to channel chandler from the old super-cheese 80’s surf movie “north shore”, these are some yo-yo’s that i think you ought to be able to PLAY WELL. a thin wooden pre-ww2 yo-yo (flores, old duncan’s, etc) duncan imperial tom kuhn no jive russell professional yomega raider playmaxx proyo 2 superyo renegade (or team losi cherry bomb) duncan freehand yoyofactory 888 i feel as though those yo-yo’s each represent a certain generation or perspective (some of which overlap), and that if you can perform (or transcend) the tricks of their respective periods on each of them (and make it look GOOD), then on some level you could say you’ve arrived as a Truly Legitimate Yo-Yoer. you will have a REAL idea for where it all comes from, which will inevitably inform where you wish to take it. best of luck on your journey. ---
